If you end up in Mesa (hahaha), check out Rancho de Tia Rosa's. The food is pretty good, and the surroundings are awesome.
I like going to shows at the Mesa Amphitheatre. It's pretty much the only thing in Mesa I like.
You don't like Hollywood Alley?
I used to always drive to Mesa for a few choice things when I lived in Phoenix. Now that I live in Mesa, all of those places are gone, except Mesa Amphitheatre.
Oh, I forgot about Hollywood Alley. I should go there.
I've never heard of Hollywood Alley.
You should go there too. We could all meet up there! muahaha.
It's kind of a dive. It's on Baseline. They serve food and beer. They have pool tables and pinball machines and arcade games. There's a little stage and you can sit at you booth or stand on the area in front of the stage and watch bands play. It's rather awesome.
They don't have a ton of shows and they tend towards the tiny and obscure.
That's where Melt-Banana is next Tuesday. I am excited.
I like dives.
I'll be in Mexico City on Tuesday though.
I'm not sure Melt-Banana would be your favorite gig ever anyway.
Do they still have all the old hollywood posters all over the walls? I probably haven't been there in 10 years. My god. I used to go watch my favorite local bands there.
thanks for the tip Courtney. I do have part of Monday set aside for sightseeing, so I will add this to my list.
You'd really recommend Mill Avenue now? I find it nothing special. I guess I'm comparing it to what it was say a decade ago rather than the rest of Tempe as would be fair but it still is a disconnect to me.
Mill Ave seemed pretty cool in the early 90's. I haven't been there in a while, but the last time I was there, it was overrun by corporate America. Bleh.
Woe to you, my Princess, when I come... you shall see who is the stronger, a gentle little girl who doesn't eat enough or a big wild man who has cocaine in his body. - SF
That was awesome.
We need to take back Mill Ave!
