But I do think Khalid would be at least a 3 if not a sub. Between the crowded competition for those spots and the odd timing (makes more sense to play in support of an album than an EP) I think he's more likely in 2020 than next year.
So you got a couple of things wrong here(like PTM subbing, was a #3 and how ACL has some guys playing just week 1 or 2) but I get what you're saying

Khalid also was ahead of Kaskade, Paramore, Alt-J, Dua Lipa, and Paak(will change placement a lot with new album) at Bonaroo this year

At worst case he is a #4

As someone who likes to listen to Khalid while doing some homework and needing to listen to something mellow, I feel like his live sets aren't too good. Has anyone seen him live?

Having been to both multiple times, I'd say they're not much different. Friday of ACL this year skewed a bit older due to David Byrne, The National, Paul McCartney, etc.

That's the exception, though not the rule.

Fair enough. To be honest, I’ve never been to ACL, I just assume what’s popular in Austin is at least somewhat different than the LA area. And there are some bizarrely different billings you get between the two, which I just sorta assumed was to some degree because of that.

He is a #3 realistically, maybe even a push to 2nd if the EP has some huge hits, but that may be too high up too fast
Agents yo, youre forgetting that they want em at a certain font size or no dice. Also, you shouldve looked at Lolla for reference vs ACL.

He is ahead of PTM and Tyler the Creator(both #3s), but behind Post Malone(#6)

So kind of weird. Wait just realized Post dropped his album after Coachella. Khalid though looking like a #3 off that and with new EP. I guess he can be a #4, but these billings show he should be a #3.

He may have gotten too big this year and not enough space. But his hype will be lower in 2020 unless he has a new album. And if that blows up he would be pushing for Sub at his 1st time at Coachella. Rare, but I think Bon Iver did it

    Swedish House Mafia
    Tele2 Arena - Stockholm
    May 4 2019

Its with Live Nation, so this will be very interesting. Did not see any details that said this was the first show, just that this is the only one so far. Im leaning towards them not being on the line up. They wouldve kept a lid on this until January if they were doing Coachella, cause that show would sell out even if it was announced a week before.

I doubt SHM is playing. There's just too much profit to be made from playing multiple LA dates on a huge arena tour.

Frankly I think the same thing can be said for Khalid.

Ella Mai touring California in Feb with no LA date and tour ends March 28. I say she's at coachella (unless she's at a radio show in Decebmer but I feel she would be at all the radio shows)

Observatory shows are usually exempt from the radius clause I’ve noticed. The Midnight has done several GV shows already too so I was sorta expecting them anyways.

Another band that unfortunately won’t be making it back this year...

Beirut just announced their tour, and will be in Europe during Coachella.

I went to ACL for the first time, and there are significantly more kiddies at Coachella than ACL. Granted, there were old people HLs on Fri/Sat and there was a higher population of kiddies on Sunday, but even Sunday seemed like a Coachella 2012-demo, nothing close to what it is currently.
I have been to concerts. I will go to concerts in the future.

I only went to ACL for the first time this year but it definitely felt like the ACL was older than the Coachella crowd. Having single day tickets with headliners like Paul and Metallica contributed but the fact that Coachella has way more hip-hop and dance/electronic factors into that as well.

I mean, ACL allows lawn chairs for christ’s sake. It’s an older crowd for sure.

So, you both went for the first time *this* year? Like I said, this year was the exception, not the rule. Trying going a year when they don't have older acts like Metallica, Paul McCartney, The National, David Byrne, etc.

Coachella, Lolla, ACL, etc. all have the same demographic for the most part. Hopefully ACL organizers will continue to book bands like I mentioned above since all of the days sold out this year.

Last time they skewed older (the Cure, Depeche Mode, Lionel Richie, Wilco, etc.) it didn't sell out (not sure if it even came close IIRC).

Probably too big of a gap to list right now but Rainbow Kitten Surprise have a gap from February 24th to April 22nd with no West Coast dates yet.
