    Default All female headliners 2018

With Beyonce already confirmed for next year and Lady Gaga coming off of a relatively successful replacement headliner spot, can Coachella pull off all female headliners this year or ever? Especially since every year they get criticized for not having enough female names on top billing. This would silence those complaints/critics. Adele has reported that she is going to retire from touring after this year and then there is Lana rumors (i'd prefer Bjork). Could this be the year? Or did the Lilith fair already try that and fail?

I think they'd rather spread them out and be able to say they've got a female headliner every year. That said, they're building up the number of eventual female headliners with Lorde, Florence, Ellie Goulding, Sia. Having two female headliners in the next few years is certainly possible.

So many other females artists I rather see Kate Bush, Laurie Anderson, Bjork or The Sugarcubes reunion, Annie Lennox, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Nicks, etc.

I already mentioned Bjork. With that said its not 2002 anymore and she's headlined twice already...

I agree with braundiggity. I don't see it being an all-female headliner next year, but do see them using those names above over the next few years.

Totally. (Well, not all of those would be headliners, but I know what you mean.) There are more options than just the ones I listed; I listed those because I do think the festival's been trying to cultivate female performers a bit more of late, and those are the best examples of near-headliner-ready acts they've built up.

3 ladyliners could be an interesting marketing tactic, but thats all it would be, and Im not sure PT cares much to please the PC crowd.

If Lana plays next year, she is underneath Beyonce. There was already that attempt with the supposed Calvin Harris Lana co headline last year. So the only reasonable way to have her billed that high is to put her right below somebody that would never be lower than headline status. Plus, itll make for an amazing shit show up front with the beyhive and lana obsessives trying to see who is crazier. Florence is the one I could see them put up there as the next female headliner though, she pretty much made Drake look like shit, and on a broken foot too.

I think this is an incredible idea especially in the wake of all the abuse stories about women in the entertainment industry lately.

    What say you, Paul T?
    I miss talking to TomAz.

We all do. I live in the same city as him (unless he relocated) and rumor has it that at 3:15am if you listen closely and its really really quiet you can hear him telling you to go fuck yourself.

I think a large chunk of the audience is cynical enough to see an all-female headliner trio as nothing more than a marketing ploy. It also wouldn't make a ton of sense.

Getting one female headliner a year from here on out makes more sense. Two if you have the opportunity.
