    Default Cal Jam

Apparently the new QOTSA tour dates accidentally leaked a new festival (or old, rather) with Foo Fighters at where I'm assuming will be the Empire Polo Fields on October 7th. The Matador site had it listed and it was removed but here's a snapshot from the Google search.

Maybe this is the Desert Trip replacement for this year?

Cal Jam was an old rock festival back in '74 so after bringing back Monterey Pop Festival I wouldn't be shocked if they brought this back too. Perhaps this is where all of Coachella's rock bands are going now.

I was thinking the same thing. Cal Jam and Cal Jam 2 were both legendary festivals (check out the great videos on YouTube) and I can imagine resurrecting the name would be cool for a promoter like Tollet. I hope they call it Cal Jam 3, just picking up where the last one left off.

If it's a direct decendent to the original Cal Jams would it be at Ontario Speedway and not the polo fields?

    If it still existed, sure.

    Small hurdle. Just rebuild it.

I guess we don't even know who's running this festival but given the dates and location, I'm assuming it's GV.

Sound on Sound, Desert Daze, and Sound Summit all announce lineups next week. Hoping that this announcement is in that group too.

    White Reaper seems criminally underbilled.

Love the lineup. $99GA sounds fantastic.

Solid lineup, great price...But I'll probably have to be on the sidelines for this one...I'm certain Queens will circle back again to LA/SD at some point in support of their new album...

Wow, this is the type of thing that normally gets stretched into two days for $200 and I cross it off my list. But a 90 minute drive from my place and a $99 GA is very tempting

    Hmmmm

It once took me 7 hours to get in when leaving from Newport, what should have been 90 minutes max.

Not a big Foo Fighters guy but that lineup is still a steal for $99. Definitely don't like that 7 hour drive home to San Diego though, will look for a cheap hotel nearby

Its the location and depending on when you head out there or what day it is, it can be crushing traffic and a bitch to get out of at the end of the night as well. Just so far away for most people.

From this tweet it appears that more bands will be added to this as there aren't 23 bands on this lineup as of now.
