    Couple of questions:

Are you required to camp or can you drive in every day?

And for my friends, do they have a payment plan?

    Thanks!

You can drive in, not required to camp. And they do have a payment plan available starting on the 21st, when the normal on-sale begins.

For those playing at home, Queens of the Stone Age is out based on the tour dates they just announced...

On the other hand, Slowdive is still looking like a possibility, but they would only have a realistic shot of playing the final day (Sunday).

If Eagles of Death Metal are playing why can't Queens of the Stone Age?

BRMC before they head out for EU tour???

Also, long shot, but Kasabian has a big gap in their tour schedule in Oct.

Was wondering bout that. QOTSA are in Midwest at that point so is Homme just doing both tours or does EODM have a fill in.

I'm hoping to attend this year! The only reason I didn't go last year was due to desert trip.

is vip worth it? or is this fest too small for it to matter?

Josh Homme has not drummed for Eagles on a regular basis since.......Like 2005...Since then they have had never-ending rotation behind the drum kit...

Josh comes and goes as he pleases, with his last string of dates being the U.S. ones that were just before their European Leg that included the tragic Bataclan show in Nov. 2015...So we'll see who will drum for Eagles this time around, but it will definitely not be Josh.

EODM without Homme is not EODM.

I guess EODM hasn't been EODM for like 90% of its tours then...LOL

While we would all love for Josh to always be behind the kit, the main engine of the band is Jesse...Especially as it pertains to the live incarnation of the band...The shows I went to that had Joey Castillo behind the kit were just as wild and fun...

Added them to the possibilities, while also listing Jesus and Mary Chain as officially being out due to their overseas tour.

If anybody has any other suggestions/educated guesses, throw them out and I'll add them to the first post accordingly...

Hoping for some more crossover from III Points which is the same weekend. Nicolas Jaar, Bonobo live, Arca, BadBadNotGood, and Thundercat would all make me happy.

^ Yeah, perhaps we will get a couple more from this lineup aside from Melody's Echo Chamber...Maybe Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, BADBADNOTGOOD, Hundred Waters...Or if they go bigger, Nicolas Jaar.

And it just occurred to me that Mild High Club is playing with Melody's in SF on October 12, so I'm going to add them to the top post.

I'll throw out some guesses based on open dates:

    Ride
    Death From Above 1979
    Explosions in the Sky
    Swans
    Melvins
    Crystal Castles
    Russian Circles (touring with EODM)

Nicolas Jarr would be awesome, his set with Darkside at Coachella a few years back during the wind storm was epic.

Agreed on Nicolas Jarr or something in a similar vein. Please no Crystal Castles.

Cross your fingers! Here's their tour dates around that time:

Oct 13-15 2017 - Zilker Park, Austin, Texas - Austin City Limits Festival tickets

    Oct 14 2017 - TBA

Oct 19 2017 - Albuquerque, New Mexico - El Rey Theater tickets

Great guesses! I've added Ride, EITS, Melvins, and Russian Circles to the top post...Will add the rest once I check out their tour itineraries...

Noooo!!! lol...The ship has sailed for Crystal Castles...The show they put on in SD last year was decent enough, but they have blown it repeatedly live throughout this year...

Sorry to ask again, but does anyone know if Lyft/Uber would work for getting to and from this fest from a nearby airbnb/hotel? I don't have a feel for how many drivers are in that area, especially late, or would go to the area for the festival volume.

Aftershock Festival is the next week in CA and has a number of DD acts appearing so they may have plenty of overlap. Including (fingers crossed) NIN!! But guessing they'd be too big and too loud for Joshua Tree
    http://aftershockconcert.com/lineup/

Other notables with open schedules and festival appearances around then: Dengue Fever, Of Montreal, Sleater Kinney, Pixies, The Kills

I could've sworn last year my buddy used a lyft/uber to head back to the hotel earlier than us...In any case, there were cabs of some sort, and it was do-able...If anything there should be even more drivers this time around.

Random idea, but there is a bike shop in JT with bike rentals.Looks like they are a lil expensive on their own at $65-95 for 24hrs But Could call and see if they'd work out a deal for multiple days/multiple riders. Riding a bike through the desert under a full moon channeling Albert Hoffman sounds kinda dope!

Thanks for the info, tycobb667. Glad to know there are some options.

jasawithaJ - we talked about bringing our bikes with us and riding to and from. Looks like the full moon is the week before the festival, but bikes could be a good option...

The Belly Up is great. Really intimate, solid sound, good drinks. It's right by the beach as well. Every time I've been, I show up fairly early to hang out at the shore and pregame at the Pizza Port nearby.

Did this sell out last year?
