Trying this again... didn't have the poll in the last thread. I'm sure it's been discussed plenty before but curious to see what the consensus is.

The Stone Roses

Where is the Beyonce option?

I'm pleased to see Phoenix with 0 votes. I agree, they're one of my favorite headliners actually, and drew a fine crowd. They don't belong in this conversation.
I accidentally voted Stone Roses when I meant to put Drake. Sigh.
Another gauge of a "Worst Headliner" would be if that headliner is still relevant now.
Kings of Leon? Not relevant anymore
Jack Johnson? Not relevant anymore
Coachella 2017
Solange April 21
Phoenix is great. Their next album is going to be great. They stepped up in a year when the festival's headliner bookings went to hell, and they brought the hits and even gave you goddamn jamokes an R. Kelly special appearance.
I'm pretty sure all the criticism about Phoenix headlining was merely because they were given a headline spot (which I agree was premature), not because they put on a bad show. Granted, I wasn't actually at that set, but I can name at least 5 headliners excluded from the poll who I guarantee were worse. Like The Black Keys in 2012. God that was boring, and I like The Black Keys.
everyone has a different definition of the word "worst" and i'm sure if you went to coachella with the presumption a headliner is going to be bad, you didn't watch the performance. i would say the headliners i had the least amount of interest in and assume was the worst were jack johnson and calvin harris. the worst headliner i saw was drake.

... Though The Weeknd will be the worst once we get to April.
In terms of performance? Drake was worst, but he wasn't a bad booking at all. In terms of bad booking? Calvin Harris
I'm not a Beyonce fan, but she would never be a bad booking. She puts on a massive show and is probably the most popular singer in the world still. Personal preference doesn't mean it's a bad headliner. BUT it was a terrible idea to book her and The Weeknd for the same festival. The Weeknd is a good performer but he and Beyonce are in too similar of a lane to coexist here. The Weeknd is a darker vibe and Beyonce is more energetic and dancing but they're both R&B/Pop hybrid acts. One or the other would have been fine but not both.
Eminem gets a pass or not depending on his setlist
I feel like Outkast weekend 1's set was maybe the huge disappointment as far as I thought this was going to blow me away headliners
Yeah, but that doesn't mean a bad booking. They crushed every set (that I heard about or saw) after their return show(WK1). Calvin had potential, but shit the bed...bad. Drake seemed like a foregone conclusion to me, and he confirmed this for me. If GV books way in advanced for headliners, then you cant hate them for possibly having Weeknd booked for 18' and then Beyoncé has last minute cancellation to be pushed to 18', so whatever. They are trying something new, hopefully next year will lean another direction in terms of headliners.
But who knows... some Xanax eating artist who has Lil in front of something awful name could headline and ruin society as a whole, because these things matter....
