Oh my goodness thank you! I actually never got to make it inside the Antarctic. I was going to hit it up Sunday early on, but apparently my friend and I never "scanned out" on Saturday night, so they made us walk all the way to the camping entrance to try and figure it out. We went to the helper people who said that we would just need to wait 5 minutes after fixing it before it would work. We wound up waiting almost 30 minutes before some SUPER nice lady working the entrance just let us in without even scanning our bracelets. We had to run to Skepta as soon as we got in, so never got to actually go in there.

This probably wasn't the correct thread for this rant, but it had to go somewhere. Excited to finally watch some of this on VR, though I'm sure it's not as cool as the actual dome itself.

Weird. I never scanned out Friday, and it worked fine coming in Saturday. They made me scan out Saturday but I assumed it was only because I left before the night was over so it was possible I could have gone back inside if I wanted to.

It was EXTRA weird, because my two other friends who we were with the whole time got in with zero issues. And they definitely didn't do anything different than us on our way out the night before. It made no sense.

I never scanned out in all 3 days. Never had issues getting in. I only noticed it on the way out Saturday when many people were lining up to scan out. One of the security told us, no need to scan out. I was fine and got in Saturday ... I saw somebody in a group got scolded by his friends for insisting to scan out even after what the security told us, lol.

My Coachella box 2015 is in my other overseas home. Not sure if I have everything in the box after all the travels and moving I did after Coachella 2015.

Gotcha. They're so easy to get now. It's weird.

I want to invest in a legit one. Any suggestions?

A very respected visual artist who does analog and digital said

technical performance, but as in many cases when "creators" concentrate too much on the tech part it does not compensate for relative poor visuals

That's what I'm saying. I've never done that in the past, and none of my friends ever did it this year. But two of us were told we had to go around and deal with that shit, and the other two got in.

The purpose in principle is that if I leave and take your wristband with me but only scan mine, when I come back with someone wearing your wristband it will not have been scanned out.

Yeah, but at end of night when masses of people are leaving they in theory just reset the system overnight. Would slow everything down too much to make all scan out at that point.

They don't scan at the end of the night. They scan during the day when most people are trying to sneak in their friends

So then the question would be, if my friend and I (obviously) scanned in on both Friday and Saturday afternoon to get into the festival, why on Sunday did it give us issues?

That I do not know. Sounds malfunctiony. I was just responded to the purpose of having people scan. I never scanned leaving the fest at night. But I did scan out when I went back to the campgrounds Saturday after Antarctic in the day time.

It was just the weirdest thing, mainly because we just straight up wouldn't have gotten in on Sunday if it wasn't for the super nice lady working the ticket scanners just moving a couple trashcans aside and letting us go in without scanning. Thank goodness for that lady.

Does anyone know what happened with this? Did it travel to other festivals? Such an amazing experience. I want more!

I can't believe this shit is coming back. They should have booked Joshua White Light show to do a dome show since they have experience in doing those in New York and do an amazing job.

"This shit", really? Besides the fact that you would prefer a Joshua White Light show (whatever that is) instead, what's your actual beef with the Antarctic dome? I found it quite enjoyable and a welcome respite last year, what with the cushy layback seats and air conditioning and all. Music and visuals were just fine, too, even perfectly sober. Was especially nice to have it accessible to the campground in the wee hours, too, like a more comfortable version of the Turn Down room. Wouldn't wait in any long lines for it or anything (didn't have to last year) but definitely planning on checking it out again.

I mean personally I was kind of "meh" on it, but it was unquestionably a success in that it seems like 95% of the people who saw it fucking loved it. It's an obvious decision to bring it back, even if you didn't like it most people did.

Apparently this year the music will be scored by St. Vincent. And it also sounds like the Antarctic will be moving more toward the center of the field.
