They fucking killed it. This is a must see set for me at Coachella now as I was semi working tonight. Need to be proper drunk for this. Their openers were great too.

That's great news. I saw their performance on KEXP and it was brilliant, glad to hear it translates well to an actual live event.

The depth of genres they are able to go through while still keeping a jammy vibe and a tight performance is spectacular. I really was blown away. They played a small 600 or so person venue and it was snowing here but there was a great turnout and as I was handing out flyers after, everyone I heard loved the show. The band before them, Orb, was a three piece that was like a mix between Rush and Mollusk-era Ween. Yea, I know that is an odd description. Never listened to their recorded work but they killed it too. Ballsy of them too take two great live bands around to open for you, I haven't been to that solid of a rock show in a while. One where every act seemed to kill it. 10/10, will see again.

Coachella will be my fourth time seeing them. Really dig most of their albums, but they really are a blast live!

Was originally skeptical because of their silly name, but was blown away the first time I saw them at Bonnaroo. Had a psychy Allman Brothers feel to it.

Do you have a rough idea of their setlist from last night? Not seeing anything online from the last few shows.

I can try and nail down an exact setlist later. It was an even split between Nonagon, Microtonal Flying Banana, and then the 4 "kinda new"(Alter me and Altered Beasts tracks) tracks + 1 they said was "really new". Seems like the way they operate their live shows now, you gotta be one step ahead of them album wise. They are already heavier into their next album in their live shows then the one they just put out. Anoxia, Nuclear Fusion, and Rattlesnake were actually live highlights though. Such a great show, sorry for the repeating and rambling.

Yup. Glad to see you've discovered that once you see King Gizzard once the idea of missing them the next time you have a chance becomes impossible. Coachella will be my....10th time seeing them, I think.

It went from me seeing a local show to avoid a possible conflict to me having to see them based off the local show not matter who the hell plays opposite them. I'll be checking them as much as possible from now on. Better yet AEG's promotional team gave me tickets to this, At The Drive-In, and The Damned just to hand out flyers after the shows. Descendants and PJ Harvey were some how still open but I'll be at Coachella during those shows. The greater Detroit area is fuxin with guitars at the moment I guess.

I wasn't sure whether to interpret the interview where I heard that from as four albums or Microtonal Flying Banana AND four more. Either way, that's a crazy year for any band.

The original rumor/article was that the band was releasing 5 albums in 2017 (including Microtonal Flying Banana). Stu has since said that the band will for sure release at least 3 this year...

Was Orb the opener for these recent shows, and if yes, about how long was their set?

I don't remember Ray Kurzweil mentioning flaming puke storms as part of the Singularity.

Though I wonder how many real puke storms will be generated in the mosh pit as the shrooms kick in...
