"The second show that really impressed me was Faithless' show in the Sahara dance tent in the early evening. Fronted by the enigmatic Maxi Jazz, Faithless came as a full live band including guitar, bass, drums, percussion and synths. The band started out with a rocked up version of "Insomnia" that drove the crowd into a steaming frenzy. Maxi Jazz led the gig as if it was a religious mass with his arms often spread out reaching out to the sky and making the victory/peace sign. Many of their hits followed such as "God Is A DJ," "Mass Destructions" and "Bombs." Sister Bliss looked fierce orchestrating more than 6 keyboards Darn, this is a really, really good band. Time to put out their new disc in America."

An elegant death by glow sticks.
...05',06',07',08',09',10',11',12',13' and counting...
aside from passing out around aisle B near the 2 simpsons tents that my buds from Perth pitched from too many vodkas at the beer garden, Faithless's set was definately my best for Day 1. And yes, they finished with "We come - ONE!"
whatever they did right after insomnia, some instrumental, was AWESOME. I'd never heard it before and was totally impressed.
once they broke out the love songs though, it was a huge downer and I left.
it's a shame they didn't have a larger crowd. I felt bad for them, they were really great and are legendary at european festivals. americans just don't get them though, I guess.
actually they were playing the fillmore on monday night. tickets were $30 face value (before service charges). scalpers were charging $20. innocent people looking to get rid of their extras didn't stand a chance.
For my first time ever having witnessed Faithless... It was just pure ecstacy... I'm not sure how empty the Sahara may have looked from the back, but from the mid-front where I was? It seemed pretty packed (not ridiculously packed, but the tent seemed full), but regardless of this, Faithless was by FAR my favourite performance of the festival... Just absolutely amazing from start to finish.... Reaffirmed my faith in music... Amazing.
