I'm really digging this one. I think the female vocal melody is just lovely. It's a sweet song.
    I miss talking to TomAz.

We all do. I live in the same city as him (unless he relocated) and rumor has it that at 3:15am if you listen closely and its really really quiet you can hear him telling you to go fuck yourself.

I know I'm late on my thoughts but I am so happy I was wrong about him not playing "more than a track or two" off the new album. I think he had a near-perfect setlist and integrated the new album very well. Opening with DNA had my eyes bugging-out with surprise. Would have loved to hear some old stuff (wtf no section 80 material?!), but again, hard to complain considering it was hit after hit with a lot of new stuff. LOVE. was a great closer, its my favorite song off the new album, even though it is a little bubble-gum. I think he knows that song is gonna be huge.

The only thing holding back the performance for me was the guest spots, he didnt need them. I would have rather had him go solo for the entire performance than bring out Future or Travis Scott.

Regardless, it was the best Ive seen him live and was very pleased to be wrong about things. Glad he has taken it to the next level.

Once again, I think the randomness of the W1 guest spots are placeholders. I think the Weekend 2 crowd is getting something a little bigger, and he needed fill-ins for Weekend 1 to keep the setlist the correct length (for costume change reasons, getting into his light box, etc) and so he just grabbed them from his friends also playing the festival.

What I would give to be at his set W2.

So he didn't have any guests for Weekend 2?!?
Gotta admit I would have been more pleased with him solo anyway.

I gotta admit, Future for Mask Off and Travis Scott for Goosebumps was super fun, then back to the amazingness that is King Kendrick.

Did he have a band (I was walking in the way back and couldn't tell). Not a big fan but didn't seem to have the presence of other rappers like Jay Z and Snoop.
I have been to concerts. I will go to concerts in the future.

he had a band, but it was hidden off-stage. They showed it once or twice during the live stream

He was good. I wish he'd ditch the band though. Or just get a better one? Some of the songs were mixed soooo poorly and sounded really muddy. Like, what's the point of having a live band if it just makes some of the songs sound worse? He had the same problem at FYF.

Loved almost everything else about the W2 set tho. The lack of guests was actually a positive, I thought. Just him up there. When he performed the first part of "PRIDE." in that crazy position up in the air on his side it looked really cool.

It would've been nice if he replaced "Goosebumps" with something from Section.80 and I didn't mind the lackluster encore choice because I knew it was coming and it gave me a chance to get a head start to the parking lot.

You guys are really lucky he didn't have those shitty guests this time. It absolutely killed the energy if you aren't a fan of those artists.

I think all rap performances need to be done with a live band at that level, it fills the sound in which is necessary when on a huge field or in an arena.

100% in agreement. But it has to be a really good band, and the arrangements have to be done well.

Thought the band sounded great. Started the set back near C3 but moved up to S2 by the second half of the show. Needed it to be louder (one of the trade-offs with a live band, but the sound quality was still top tier).

All-in-all, he killed it. It was the Kendrick Show. Didn't find myself wondering about or hoping for a guest even once. He sounded great, the crowd energy and sing-a-longs were great, and the new visuals/choreography were awesome. Awesome way to end a Coachella weekend and likely my Coachella career.

Anybody else hear that fucking pounding bass soundbleed a few songs into his set W2? Was so distracting I had to move way more to the center/back.

Agree with everything, especially that last part.

I thought the set was fantastic. I lucked the fuck out and my friend escorted me into the VIP viewing area and I ended up getting right on the barricade in the middle, so when he walked to his satellite stage I got within five feet of him. It was fun watching his family and crew walking back to their viewing areas....it was a total family affair. And fun to see all these guys I follow on IG in person. I was on cloud nine the whole time. It was everything I could have asked for. Oh except I wish he woulda worked Feel in there too.

Yeah, once he started playing HUMBLE I knew RiRi wasn't coming out for LOYALTY. I love that song so it definitely would've made the set even better, but wow. I got as far up on the left side as possible before the artists section. This was officially the lit zone. Everybody in my area knew all the words to the new songs and the energy was insane for the whole show! It really made the set extra special, we were all collectively blown away over there

I'm not really a typical hip hop fan...but Kendrick has me SO EXCITED this year. I'm going to try buying tickets tonight/tomorrow/when I get paid.

Dude awesome! He can really do no wrong in my eyes. Except collaborate with Maroon 5, actually.
