Default WAIT--WAIT---KENDRICK LAMAR IS HEADLINING COACHELLA

Yes I know he's whored himself over festivals the last 5 years. Yes I know he's been visible on everyone else's lineup but ours. Yes I know he just did FYF.

But Coachella is important and him doing it is important and he will bring the house down. And if his new song is to be taken as gospel then we have a new album to look forward to April 7th

This is going to be the best Sunday closer since AF2014 or Dre & Snoop 2012. Jesus this is good.

He's only done 4 NA festivals since TPAB and the Kunta Groove sessions. Some people on here didn't like the FYF set. I don't know how. It was incredible

I thought the FYF set was fine but nothing amazing. It sounded really muddy at times. Maybe it was just where I was standing I dunno. Looking forward to Coachella tho. New song is wild.

I loved it. I liked Tame more but Tame was unmatched that night. Also folks around me were mad he ended with ADHD. I get it, it wasn't the highest of notes but it was dope for fans who been down.

    Here's the new song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbYIUnV8u7E

His Kunta Groove Sessions show I saw was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. With Thundercat, ScHoolboy, and George Clinton at Coachella as well, there's so much potential for this. But honestly, Kendrick alone is going to be the shit.

So many shots at Big Sean, especially in that third half. Slow start but it's straight fire by the end. Holy shit.

I don't think we have to guess too much. "Hoe Jay-Z hall of fame, sit your punk ass down" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hall_o...ig_Sean_album)

Big Sean had a subliminal toward Kendrick with:
And I can’t lie like I like this shit like I usually do
And I’m just not impressed by you niggas rapping fast
Who sound like one big asthma attack but trash when I’m rapping it back
Who you put in your top five and claim they the savior of rap

And then Kendrick fires back with "I let you worry about a list, I'm on some other shit
A difference between accomplishments and astonishments"

That's just what I noticed, sure there's some at Drake too.

I feel like Genius will have it all spelled out with way more nuance in about five minutes haha.

But Drake also said he was the new Hov. It could be both I just don't think it's clear cut. That's why there's a big debate right now lol

Damn you Jay-Z for making subliminal ok.

Yeah I was really not expecting for Tame Impala to have the best set of the night they totally blew me away. And I loved the ending with Alright --> ADHD, which was the song that first really got me into Kendrick. There were just a lot of parts in the middle that sort of bogged things down. I think he sort of suffers from not having as big a catalog of hits that a Kanye or Jay has, in terms of other rap headliners. I love his deeper cuts, but in a festival setting they don't always work so well.

Nothing subliminal from Hov on Shining though.

His shots were clearly at Drake and 21 Savage haha.

    It's weird.

He makes the kind of Hip-Hop I like, and I've seen him live a few times at different festivals and he's damn good (except that one time he was a guest during Dre and Snoop, I thought that was terrible and almost killed the sets flow). But for some reason, I just have absolutely no desire to see him again. I like his stuff, I do, I just don't see myself going out of my way to see him, especially if someone like Belleville Three or Tourist is on at the same time.

Kendrick can at least rap, which is saying more than you can for the majority of mainstream rappers nowadays (including almost every other one on the Coachella lineup.) But personally, the production just doesn't do it for me. I can't get into his beats at all and he almost had that "let me try to be too original" sound on his last couple of albums. No bangers. No hard beats. Nothing. But album production is all subjective for each listener I guess.

I will say that when I hear him featured on other artist's albums and songs, I usually like his verse. "Fragile" w/ Tech N9ne, "Deep Water" w/ Dre, "Let Us Move On" w/ Dido... and more.

Love the new song. Haven't stuck around for a Sunday headliner the last couple of years, glad that's changing this year

Here's my main issue with Kendrick's live performances. He basically has the crowd sing 40% of his lines. I get it, you want to boost your ego by seeing that your fans know all of your lyrics. But it's just too much! He points the mic out into the crowd for entire verses sometimes. It's so annoying! He's such a talented performer and his shows would be amazing if somebody would just tell him to sing his own lines. I didn't come here to listen to 50,000 idiots screaming out the opening verse to "backseat freestyle." Sing your own shit Kendrick!

For what it's worth, an insider on a hip-hop forum I frequent who clearly has very close ties to that label and has been right before about a thousand times about Kendrick has mentioned that this album is specifically designed to be performed live, because he's tired of performing GKMC and he doesn't enjoy performing TPAB, and that he wanted to have something that would give him better moments in his concerts.

He also mentioned that the album is going to "be a fucking problem" for other rappers, that the drop date is indeed April 7th (so we'll know if he's lying, but his track record is strong), producers include The Alchemist and Metro, it's timed purposefully to coincide with Coachella and that was always the plan, and that "Coachella ticketholders are in for the show of a lifetime". And that's not a forum that talks about Coachella ever.

I did not have the "crowd sing 40% of lines" experience. But again, that Kunta Groove Sessions tour was special.

I can't believe he doesn't like performing TPAB. Maybe it's personal preference, but that always struck me as a great live album. Wesley's Theory, King Kunta, These Walls, Alright, i, The Blacker The Berry...those songs kill live.

But hey, if he wants to make something even better, fine by me.

    The quote:

".. and he wants a album he can perform and this is that one... that why he stop performing tpab

    Homie tried of performing gkmc."

From the intel, the album sounds like it's going to be a 180 from TPAB. Bars focused, more hip-hop centric beats, less jazz/funk. A rapper's rap album.

I'm here for it. So excited.
