Default Lots of pickpockets this year.

My friend got his iPhone stolen during Miike Snow, and another friend of ours almost got her phone taken during Flume.

Scumbags have to pay for Coachella somehow. Used to be a time when i would think shit like this would never happen, but it happened to me a couple of years ago when my camera bag got ripped off. So keep your street smarts about you and be aware of your shit. Hopefully anyone thieving at Coachella gets arrested, but that is not likely.

    Ugh, that's so frustrating...

There are still good people, though. My friend had to work Thursday evening and used the internet lounge in camping to do so. It had been an extremely long day & she couldn't wait to get back to her camp spot and go to sleep around 1am. Well, she absentmindedly left her purse in the internet cafe (with her $400 in CASH for the weekend and photo ID inside of it). She woke up the next morning realizing what she'd done. She was so upset and I kept encouraging her to check with lost & found. Lost & found didn't have the purse before she went into the festival Friday morning but, when she and her boyfriend came to the campsite to eat lunch, she checked on the way back in. Not only was her purse turned in, but all contents untouched were also turned in. Not a dollar missing of her money.

As unfortunate as it is, there are definitely people from both ends of the continuum in attendance...

Holy wow, I lost my phone at Miike Snow as well but now I'm convinced it was pickpocketed. This sounds like the same thief who did me wrong. It happened as we were moving out of a crowd shoulder to shoulder.

Lesson learned, will put my phone on a leash next time.

FWIW, they were checking wristbands to get BACK INTO Lot 2 parking when I left (around 830) - that was a new one. Presume there was some theft going on.

Similar story for my group this weekend - my friend lost her Galaxy Note 5 in the girls restroom, and when we called her phone about 20 minutes later (when she realized it was gone), the woman who found her phone in the bathroom answered the call and met up with us to return the phone no questions asked.

Security guards have been known to go through tents and help themselves at the campgrounds in past years. How was it this year?

i heard two security guards talking about a situation where a guy was jumping into people's tents and cars and that they had to drop the ban hammer and tackle his ass to the floor

Every year I've gone I've put my phone on a leash because I know how I am, I usually put my cash in the back of it as well, however knowing people are going through pockets sucks, but even though I'm all good vibes nothing would make me happier than breaking a thiefs hand and shaming him , GOT style, out of the crowd. Shame. Shame.

I'm curious are they just allowed to go through your campsite whether you are there or not? Like if you came back and you caught security red handed is it just too bad since it's on private property.

Thanks for the heads up though.

All I know is that if I see someone pickpocketing anyone I will put them into a chokehold and deliver them to the nearest security guard.

Sounds like some people got robbed and a lot of other people got a great excuse for losing their shit while they were all fucked up. Either way I may leave my phone in the car this year.

Ditto that. I'm all about enforcing vigilante justice. Two years ago I form-tackled a line runner. Hurt my shoulder a little bit, but he was laid out.

I, along with about 10 other people got my phone pickpocket trying to get into the sahara tent for chainsmokers. Amazing weekend, shitty people.

After seeing RL Grime, i saw a purse and found an ID and credit card. Did the right thing and turned it into the info booth so they can give it to lost and found. I didnt look at the ID, but hope the owner her ID back.

Why do we assume the phones were pickpocketed rather than dropped or lost? Especially since, you know, a fuckton of phones get lost and found at Coachella every single year.

Same story! Phone was taken from my front pocket while stuck in the massive shoulder-to-shoulder crowd behind Sahara Tent for Chainsmokers.

My friend's was stolen from her purse 30 min later while in a crowd squeezing into the beer garden. So fucked up. I've never seen the crowds this bad before, and you have no choice but to move through them. Apparently anytime you're sandwiched in, there's someone looking to pickpocket you.

I'm convinced it's shorter girls in those crazy crowds that get away with it.

I believe many people claimed (esp on Reddit) that they noticed the missing phone relatively soon after and tried to call it but the phone was turned off, which might indicate a theft.

Definitely saw these two on the webcast rifling their way through the Sahara during D J Mustard.

If you got pick-pocked then that is your fault...should of been dancing too much for that shit to happen.

Just wanted to give major love and good vibes to the person who found and returned my wallet -- cash and everything intact -- to lost and found in 2015. And then props to GV for getting it back to me. I had wrongly accused a guy who came up to me at the end of Sunday night who was fidgety and nervous as the person who picked my fanny pack. But alas, I should not have lost my faith in many of the good people who still go to the festival. Good luck to everyone who lost their stuff. Try lost and found.

It's great to hear about all these stories of people recovering their lost items. But the entire weekend I felt that the vibe and types of people at Coachella have really changed throughout the years. I used to feel so trustworthy of Coachella-goers but I have lost hope this year.

I have been hearing too many stories of pick-pocketing and I experienced it myself Saturday night at main stage. Yes, I had my phone in my back pocket - my mistake. BUT I would check for it every few minutes. At one point I quickly touch my butt pocket and felt a hand letting go of my phone back into my pocket. Having so much hope in humanity, I thought maybe it was just some dancing that happened to have their hand there. But just to be safe, I buttoned my back pocket with my phone in it. 5 minutes later I check again, and my button was open and phone was missing. My phone has been turned off since and I have yet to receive a notification from Lost My Phone.

It's really fucked up if you blame it on an unaccountable generation. The real blame is on the shitty people that ruin the Coachella experience for evil and self-gain. I don't even care about the phone, I just want my recent photos & videos.

Seriously!!?! You felt someone with their hands on your phone and you didn't turn around and say anything.....you didn't move from your spot to another area....and the kicker...you buttoned your pants and they were able to unbutton them without you knowing AND take your phone.
Not buying it! Either they are the criminal of the day or you are beyond stupid

someone unbuttons your pants and you don't notice...add to it no one around saw them and did anything...

    This reeks of BS
Just when I think you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this…and totally redeem yourself!
