I really liked Paz when I saw them in February as well.
In my Coachella fever dreams of last night, I started to wonder about the factors surrounding them being on the set times, but not on the poster. Might it be that it's for weekend 1 only?
I doubt that, they would receive too many complaints. There's many acts that are on the set times but not the poster, either they wanted the set times to be an extra big reveal this year for some reason or they just got lazy and didn't want to bother updating the poster. I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the new acts being weekend 1 only, that would be a pretty boneheaded thing to do.
They need to remove Skrillex and Foster the people from the poster and replace them with Casablancas and Pixies for saturday to look right.
But why Saturday! Dammit why!
It takes a new level of retardedry to pollute a "Pixies Late Add" thread with the same old banal Daft Punk tripe.
Happy … like a room without a roof … provided I get across and see QOTSA too
Come a long long, come a long long way
Ok, so I'm an 80's guy raised on REM, T-Heads, Replacements, fIREHOSE, Dream Syndicate, et al. I am still trying to figure out how the Pixies bypassed me entirely. I knew a few songs but really dug into the catalog today and realized what I'd been missing. Damn. Not missing this for anything. Go easy on me, Tom.
I have been to concerts. I will go to concerts in the future.
I think it's entirely possible that Pixies/JC won't be at Weekend 2. Maybe Coachella is planning to reveal a few different artists on the W2 Set Times, so that W2 finally has a few surprises of its own.
The best part about The Pixies playing Coachella is that they are putting on a show for just $30 at Pappy and Harriet's Thursday, the 17th which is within an hour of the valley and they can play hours and hours!!!!!
Maybe Daft Punk will be on the lineup weekend 2!
Seriously tho I just wanna hear "Caribou"
I haven't listened to Dolittle in forever, forgot how good it is.
goldenvoice have been pretty adamant about minimizing the differences between the two weekends in the past.
Such a great surprise! My eyes definitely bugged out when I saw that. Even without Kim, and so-so new material, it's still going to be great. I do not think the tent will be THAT crowded though as many people have never even heard of them, let alone being really excited to see them.
Fri: LCD Soundsystem, M83, Underworld, the Kills, FOALS, the Last Shadow Puppets, Joey Bada$$, BORNS, Miami Horror
Sat: Guns N' Roses, Ice Cube, CHVRCHES, Courtney Barnett, Run the Jewels, the Arcs, Gary Clark Jr., Silversun Pickups, Lush, Moon Taxi, DMA's
Sun: Major Lazer, Flume, Rancid, Miike Snow, Edward Sharp, Matt & Kim, Cold War Kids, Wolf Alice, Anderson Paak, Joywave, the Heavy, Meg Myers
Obviously it doesn't matter at this point, but where do you think they would've been placed on the poster? Despite the line-up changes they're still a big deal a la the Replacements but playing the Mohave is kinda surprising, no?
the pixies are NOT a big deal anymore. they've tarnished their legacy by touring doolittle for 5 years and putting out these shitty EPs. I'd bill them at the beginning of the third line on saturday.
The shows last September were some of the best Pixies shows I had ever seen. Kim was not missed at all.
