last year i saw the att antenna in front of the fest, my verizon coverage was shit on friday, but by mid-day saturday it was full bars...

Calling will be nearly impossible, and texting will be really delayed. It doesn't really matter what service you have.. Verizon, Cingular, AT&T, Sprint.. Same shit. My friends have all had trouble contacting each other.. It will be awesome if they really built temporary tower.

Texts work for me. =]
I have T-Mobile.
If i search for recpetion i can also make calls.
I have cingular/ATT and had no problem sending or recieving texts last year. no delay, nada...
Getting your friends to hear and answer the phone is also difficult with all the noise. Plus, nobody checks their voicemail out there. My Cingular/AT&T had failed calls galore the past couple years as well. Very frustrating.
We usually just meet up in front of the Virgin store as it's central.
yeah, you gotta have a specific time and place to meet and an emergency place to meet if you get seperated (if you can make all of that work, sometimes the rules go out the window) you also have to have your phone on vibe (if you can even notice that) and check it often.
*edit: kinda why I like going solo, no one to worry about or get in the way of what you want to do. You can always make friends at the fest.
Yeah, make sure you can feel the vibrate--I was at an Infected Mushroom show the other day, and with all the booming bass, I could hardly feel it.
that's wierd everytime I get into coachella my phone pics up every vibrations and I"m like damn who's calling me and nothing is going on with my phone...
mine worked fine last year.
I put my phone on vibrate and still have a hard time.
only time I can feel it is when I put it in my bra but then
doing that during the peak sun and heat hours would not be a
good idea. gross!!!! and I always use text feature.actual voice to voice is
too hard to hear. no delays for me when texting.
in 2006 it was a dead zone for cell reception. too many phones in one place.
But last year it was solid reception. I guess the networks have improved maybe, and can handle that sort of mass now because the difference was tangible.
I have cingular too, and last year I was able to call and text fine, perfect reception, problem is it is too loud to call any one.
Could anyone advise me on a good Pay as You Go thingie that might work in Coachella ?
