I'm going to choose some place that isn't so used like the tesla coil
I think I will use the churros stand as a meeting point
I understand there are WiFi hotspots in the camping, VIP, and I heard something about an AT&T "Blueroom". Any chance at picking up an internet phone for the event? And, how big are these hotspots.
We have had no problems texting or talking--We just switched to TMobile from Sprint so I hope that works too!
i have a sprint phone, i have never had a problem with reception at coachella. never had a call that didnt go through on the first try. and i use it all the time at coachella
I saw them setting up a temporary cell phone tower at the site today! I don't remember that before, and it's probably not the only one. Hope to find better reception (or more capacity) at the festival this year.
I had great service at Coachella last year. I got better service there then I do in Vegas. I used my phone 6 or 7 times each day and I never got one dropped call.
I have Sprint.
I have verizon and never had a problem with connections, reception or texts and I used them all quite a bit the last two years. I wonder how much each phones individual antenna's effect it. Me and my lady split up on several occasions and never had a problem connecting calls or texts.
that stinks. i guess i'll just make friends with whoever is standing next to me.
the big horn was a bad spot to meet at
I drove by the festival grounds earlier and they were building a temporary cell site. So Im guessing there will be better cell phone reception this year.
I haven't seen anyone mention Cingular, so I'm sure (especially since I have it) that reception's terrible with Cingular @ Coachella. Well, even if so, it's ok. I don't plan on being on the phone or texting to much. I'm there for the music!
oh and walkie talkies are great. we're bringing a set of high dollar ones that i'm borrowing from my uncle. I just hope all the frequencies aren't taken.
We serve people like you as good food! ~sign in a restaurant window, Tokyo, Japan
qwest is on sprint's network, so I imagine that'll work too.
I have Verizon. I had little to no reception in 06, but last year was fine.
I have a question about the AT&T blue room. Will they recharge your shitty, obscure phone if you bring the charger? Last year I had a Razr with the convenient little USB hole, but then someone stole it after Rage, so...

If you bring the charger? That's new, I don't see why not. Usually they'll have all sorts of chargers on hand and use them instead.
'04 i had no service (that was verizon, but i think it was more my phone than anything cause my boyfriend had verizon and he didn't have any service issues). i switched to sprint in '05 and haven't had a problem making/receiving calls or text messages at the venue since. i was wondering the same thing about bringing a charger. i would think so. they have outlets. i say bring it on friday and if not then just leave it the rest of the weekend.
Well in 2006 they insisted that they could not charge my phone. It was that piece of shit Nokia phone that was the cheapest phone available to Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T back in the day. So it wasn't even obscure. I've known ten people that had that thing.
I have sprint and had no issues at all last year. worked fine
