I like the tacos from a local carneceria . Only on weekends one guy plays guitar and sings while another grills.1.50 each . Chorizo/chicken/carne Assada/ ground beef . Grilled spicy peppers and onions. Awesome.
Gus' in front of cha cha lounge is definitely better than taco zone. My roommates into taco zone though, I just can't get over that gus' super hot sauce!
That shit is nuclear. I love it.
And don't get me wrong, Taco Zone is decent and I used to go there all the time, but there are many better taco places in Los Angeles. Two great restaurants with very different tacos: El Parian, which is a few blocks west of the convention center on Pico and has excellent, HUGE carne asada tacos and the best birria I've ever had, and Guisado's in Boyle Heights, which just has the best tacos (hell, some of the best food) in Los Angeles.

Tijuana Tacos Las Vegas on East Tropicana has the best carnitas ever. The pork has some kind of a bright pink marinade that crusts on the outside. Its cooked on a revolving vertical spit like lamb is for gyros. They shave the pork off the shank and oh my lord is it delish. I hear the lengua is great too.
