    Default 5 additional acres

    http://www.latimes.com/food/dailydis...#axzz2wRLRUo9Q

From the LA Times article about the food selection this year.

Tollett notes that Coachella's dining options have expanded each year, and this year the venue also will include an additional five acres.
I know this has been expected for some time, but it's nice to see it officially mentioned for this year.

Love it. What area got expanded? I remember hearing talk about them adding space behind the Outdoor or something like that

    So many questions:
Based on recent google map images, the area behind the Outdoor is greener than ever. (not actually a question)
It's actually 10 green acres (not actually a question either)

Will they only be using half of that area?
Will that be where they place a larger Yuma to make room for an expanded Terrace?
Will that be a new secondary entrance?
Will that area be a new food court / smaller (or larger terrace) terrace?
How will people get between the main polo fields and that area?
How does all the behind-the stage traffic (artists, vip, stagehands) cross the new public traffic?

Makes sense for it to be there, though… since The Terrace "is expanding".

Yuma will be bigger. We dont know how much bigger or what kind of tent or if it will be in the expanded terrace , I'm guessing it will be there.

http://www.indio.org/Modules/ShowDoc...ocumentid=2550 I forget where I saw this originally, it's the proposed agreement between Goldvoice and the City of Indio through 2030. It shows expanding 5 acres by the outdoor

"Figure 2 shows the future Music Festival Event site. The size of the site will increase to approximately
601 acres and the amount of land used for parking, camping, and other support functions would
increase slightly to provide enhanced circulation and support for the Music Festival Events and to
accommodate larger events than those currently permitted."

They could honestly use a boost after last years crowds pushing at capacity. if they were to expand the terrace into those horse stables, any idea of where they would move the stables? I mean, they do play polo there still, so they need that infrastructure there.

Also, if they expand to the side of the main stage, it will be interesting how the do that. people will have to cross that road and then how about the back stage areas??

Not really. The article writer says the venue will have an additional 5 acres. We are given no information where those 5 acres will be added....or am I missing something?

Oh, ok. Got it. Article written by an outside source is right and the employee telling you exactly where the expansion is going to be isn't.

this may sound crazy but maybe the 5 acres is next to the Rose Garden and they made the Sahara tent even bigger

I think it makes the most sense logistically the five acres would be added next to the terrace where the horse stables are. The only question is since we don't have up to date google earth photos, where/how the horse stables? That's a lot of work and money to renovate that whole area. Then what, move it back, when they're ready to play more polo?

When they signed the most recent deal, it was announced that they'd be making permanent improvements to the Polo Fields because -- breaking news -- the concerts are now a bigger deal than polo.

Where? across 51st ave? Probably very unlikely unless they build a bridge. That's a city road.

Are you referring to the horse stables area? Heck, you could be right considering how bad it was from the beer garden area to the tent last year. HUGE congestion in that area. They could probably make that beer garden way bigger this year which would make perfect sense. You could even add more beer vendors and tables. I remember long line just to get into that beer garden last year nearly every time I walked past it.
