Thread: FYF 2014

While this year selling out seemed inevitable, I think the quickness (less than a month, if I recall?) caught a lot of people off-guard, so I'm glad many of you got another chance after all without going the Stubhub route. Also seems like there's a decent enough allotment made available here that everyone has notice and doesn't miss seeing the window to buy them. If you wait this time and miss out, you can only blame yourself.

And yeah, I'm extremely curious about the capacity this year. I'm honestly more interested to see the map than I am to see the set times.

I'm also very curious about the setup of the new venue. I wish they'd utilize the Coliseum for fests like this because I liked the old EDC and the LA Rising setups and the Coliseum is just a cool place in general to have shows in. And because it's not as big as EDC, the flow going in and out would be much smoother and there is a lesser chance of people doing stupid shit like hopping fences and causing riots.

As long as it's not too overcrowded and we're able to get from stage to stage semi-easily and quickly, I'll be happy.

I hope The Strokes and Interpol dont play inside the sports arena. It used to get all hot and crowded when they used to throw Monster there, and its gonna make it hard to bounce from stage to stage get a good spot.

Pretty sure they'll both be in there.

What? The Strokes are most definitely, 100% playing inside.

Thats what I was guessing, but I was hoping they'd use the colussium instead of the sports arena. Like the old EDC setup vs the Monster Massive set up.

I do not think the Coliseum is being utilized at all. Those events had more than 100,000 people attending and this wi going to be like 20,000+

They clearly mentioned they'll be utilizing the sports arena and NOT the coliseum...

They could just put the stage in the middle and only use half of the Coliseum, but I'm thinking it's more because of the liabilities that come with holding an event in there? The owner(s) of the coliseum probably don't want to deal with what happened at EDC, especially when it won't generate anywhere near the profit EDC gets.

But as an attendee, I miss the Coliseum and hope to see some more shows/fests there in the near future.

Honestly, my initial reason for staying away from FYF was the thought of seeing anything inside the Sports Arena again. Now that the Forum is all prettied up, the Sports Arena is easily the worst arena venue in Los Angeles. I saw Pearl Jam there recently and made it through. But it's a crap-hole of a venue.

Ya, it's bad. It's pretty much a stone mausoleum. Concrete everywhere. The sound system is average at best on a good day. The acoustics tie back to all that concrete- bad, bad, bad. Still, I have managed to see some decent shows there and not leave thinking all that much about it. Don't fret, it's going to be good times.

Not sure if you guys know yet but what part of Exposition Park will they be using. I haven't walked around the entire park but is there that much room for outdoor stages between all the museums? I'm under the assumption they won't be using the Rose Garden. Just wondering since I will be at Uforia the week before.

Yes, theres room. If they were able to have Odd Future Carnival in one tiny area of the whole arena/stadium/park, itll be perfectly fine for the whole festival.

FYF is around the Sports Arena, not the museums. Check it out on Google maps. I don't know anything about Uforia, or that every event will be utilizing the space in the same way.

I got my tracking number for my wristband today. Here's hoping it arrives soon and works without any hassles.

I'm curious to hear what bands people are most looking forward to.

I'm excited about Slowdive, Joanna Gruesome, Mariachi El Bronx, Connan Mockasin, Chet Faker and Built to Spill.

There are a lot of acts I wasn't familiar with and I've been working my way through the lineup, listening to stuff and taking notes on who I do and don't want to see. There are a good number I'm on the fence about because I don't know what they'll be like live versus record.

Post those. We could probably help with personal experiences.

    Stupid question:

I bought 1 ticket when the initial ticket sale went on and I bought 1 ticket when the small amount of tickets went on sale this past week.

Would I get both tickets at the same time or are they going to come in separately?

I don't think any of us are able to answer that question. You should call Front Gate and ask them?

I would assume they would come separately because they are separate orders. Probably not worth the savings in postage to attempt to match up existing orders with new ones. Also it's possible your first wristband was packaged up before your second was purchased.

Whenever you get the shipping email, most likely it will have a description of contents and the order #. And yeh, like everyone said, probably two diff shipments.

Most of those can easily turn into ''you should see them''. Go look up youtube vids for Blood Orange, Darkside and Little Dragon at Coachella this year.
