Im looking for some advice here. Me and two of my friends are driving over from Utah for FYF. None of us have spent very much time in LA and we are unfamiliar with the city and the public transportation. So my question is: should we worry about staying in walking distance to the festival or will we be fine staying somewhere cheaper like Inglewood and taking the train? I just don't want to get screwed with the whole train/bus situation. Any input or advice would be greatly appreciated!
dont stay in inglewood
She added the phrase "meany head" to my profile.I hardly think I'm an attention whore.I train birds of prey and am I licensed falconer
Yeah, the transit will be fine, but don't stay in Inglewood.

Most neighborhoods on the Red and Purple lines will be okay, and Culver City at the end of the Expo line, but I would avoid anything else. There are lot of nice neighborhoods accessible by the gold line as well, but that's going to be a lot of transferring.
EDIT: what they said ^^^
Thanks for the input everyone. Booked a room in Culver city for $100.
Culver City is nice. Lots of great places to get dinner/lunch/brunch, and the train goes directly to the festival site in about 20 minutes. Get a burger and some great beers at Father's Office one of the days you're in town - http://fathersoffice.com/
anyone have a couple of saturday tickets their looking to unload?
Have I gone blind or are Pink Mountaintops no longer listed on the official site?

They posted this today on facebook:
"Apologies to all those looking forward to coming out for the east coast shows. Sometimes life forces you to slow down and take a deep breath. Unfortunately, this is one of those times so sadly we have cancelled the tour. I hope we can make it up to you all in the future.
maybe one of them is having health problems?
I also have 2 friends looking for Saturday tickets, or 2 day passes if anyone has available pm me please. Thanks!
Here is a recording from Todd Terje & LindstrÝm's live tour last year. A lot of tracks will overlap on Todd Terje's solo live tour which we are treated to in August so expect something in this vein. Nu-disco in a festival setting can be hit or miss but I expect a grooving crowd and lots of smiles.

4 miles on uber is less than a $10 ride.
I Pricelined a damn good deal, got the Westin Bonaventure. 4 miles away, probably take the Metro in and get there/back ~25 min each way, methinks. How late does this fest usually go, hopefully the Metro's still running afterwards. And what exactly is DASH? Google tells me it's also an option to get there and back, but I've never heard of that before - is it reliable busing?
The Bonaventure is really nice!
DASH is a bus system. What you are going to do is get on the Metro Expo Line line, which is a light rail train, at the 7th/Metro stop, which is located 3 blocks away at 7th and Flower. The ride from that stop to exposition park is like 5 minutes, I believe it is the 3rd or 4th stop. It costs $1.50 each way. The shopw goes until 12am. They run the trains after 2am on Fridays and Saturdays, but they usually run them late on Sunday during FYF and other big events as well.
Also, i'll be trying to organize some meet-ups for lunch/brunch each day in the vicinity of the 7th/metro stop.
