Great news about Ray Lamontagne considering his new album comes out on May 6.
Morello set was a great OSL memory for me since I made it up onto the stage during This Land Is Your Land
Great to get the first "lock" down, Ray is always solid. Wouldn't mind Jason Isbell either, though he is only touring with him earlier in the summer.
This elevated Bruce talk is making me antsy, trying not to get my hopes up too much.
Hello everyone. So much like SavageHenry mentioned earlier in the thread, i too have just been an observer for the last few years but figured its time to get into the mix of it all. i love OSL and have been every year since 2010 and cant wait to see who they bring back to the park! i look forward to our future findings.
so theres another small festival in cornwall called Boardmasters and runs August 6th-10th and leads me to believe none of the acts will be in SF for the festival. acts include Chase and Status, Bastille, Peace, Palma Violets, Dan Croll, Boy & Bear, and Duke Dumont. so we should probably take DD off the speculated list.
Theres also another festival called Wanderlust and its in Whistler (above Washington) and runs July 31st - August 4th. possible acts that could come down for the fest could be Emancipator, RJD2, and Tycho (more reason to speculate them)
Welcome to the board. And thanks for contributing some info in your first post.
I checked out that Wanderlust fest and Charles Bradley (he did play three years ago but I think with a different band) and The Soul Rebels could also be playing both fests. I would say the Soul Rebels are likely since they seem to be playing a few fests and Superfly's New Orleans connection.
Welcome to the boards!
Kool and the Gang on Sunday? http://koolandthegang.com/concerts/
Massive Attack on the Lands End stage please
12/3 RS94109 Re-Opening | 12/3 Traxx, Ngly, Solar @ Monarch | 12/10 Tamo Sumo, Prins Thomas, Dorisburg @ PW | 12/11 Michael Kiwanuka @ Fillmore (?) | 12/11 Moderat @ Fox Theater (?) | 12/12 Prism Tats @ Brick & Mortar (?) | Day for Night 12/17-12/18
I saw Kool and The Gang a few years back and it was very similar IMO to seeing Earth Wind and Fire. It's a fun nostalgic act to see and dance to but overall nothing special. That being said Summer Madness is one of my favorite songs to listen to stoned and they didn't play it when I saw them so if they where there and did play it, that might be one of my favorite OSL moments ever.
For Twin Peaks, I honestly do not know which acts they are looking for this year. Though Disclosure would be amazing and could close out Friday night, I wonder if theyll go with someone bigger.
For Saturday night, i think it would be cool to see someone like The Avett Brothers there. wouldnt be as much of a clusterfuck as Phoenix and would be a nice opposite for the metal (soundgarden) or rap (kanye, eminem) act they'll have at Lands end
I could be wrong but i think buuren has a residency in spain during OSL, unless he decides to do a spontaneous flight back to the states for the weekend
Not that this is much but bassnectar can be ruled out due to tour dates
outkast outkast outkast

Has he been ruled out of OSL yet? Does this rule him out? Myself, I'll be headed to the SB show, since no Coachella for me this year.

Beck played in 2012.
It was a pretty lackluster performance, imo. But I think 2014 is too soon for him to return in accordance with OSL not having many repeat acts.
Not Guffman. Dazed & Confused.
Also, I figure Gessafelstein would be one of the EDM acts they pull. And Kaytranada, too.
it was like he ate a fistful of xanax beforehand

I would imagine Beck is a lock for Treasure Island, if not OSL.
Is this non-repeating thing a rule? I honestly don't know, but wasn't it The National's second time playing?
I think this tour will be good to see him. The new album is fantastic.
I thought the Beck OSL set was decent as far as song selection but it was sleepy as was said. His TI show was pretty fun though with the covers that he played.
The no repeats at OSL is not a hard fast rule, but many times the promoters have said that they don't like having too many repeats. They definitely don't bring bands back too quickly after they have played previously. I don't know if any band has repeated at OSL after any less than three years. There will definitely be some returning bands this year, but I would be looking at bands that played 2011 or earlier.
Coachella should take a hint from that no repeat rule.
