Yep, there's plenty of parking in the Sunset and Richmond if you get there early. I might even have an extra space for somebody about four blocks away.

I'm sure, for some, the convenience outweighs the cost; those who consider their time worth more than the $225. In this city, I'm sure they won't have a problem filling those spots, and those people won't complain.

MUNI all the way for me! My time isn't worth all the delicious food and beer I could afford for that $225.

Hopefully we're getting a confirmation from OL everyday because that's all I'm looking forward to...

45 for a shuttle pass is a steal. So convenient and walking distance from my hotel.

I wouldn't doubt it happens. Have they ever played OSL?

I haven't been to SF in over 10 years and I'm planning on going to OSL this year. How easy/difficult is it getting to and from this festival on public transportation? Would you guys advise getting a shuttle pass?

I'm thinking I'll just book a hotel around the shuttle pick-up area (unless they're all booked already) if shuttle is the way to go.

Shuttles pick up from the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium (Civic Center), which is easily accessibly by BART and other public transportation. It really depends on where you stay, but there's a good chance the shuttle option is the way to go for you.

I assume that's in reference to the public MUNI lines, and not the private OSL shuttles. All the bus lines bordering the park (North side: 5, 5L, South side: 71, 71L) in my experience tend to be very full and somewhat slow. The MUNI light rail (line N) has a greater passenger capacity, and I imagine would be a quicker trip, but I have not used it for OSL.

Donuts is right. Shuttle is the easiest and not that expensive so probably the way to go. However, if you can't get the shuttle the light rail is not that terrible, except when you leave the fest when its going to be a bitch to get on it.

Yes, sorry. The shuttle is great, the public buses are awful. Unless you get on the 5 at the very beginning in SOMA there is almost no hope. There are only certain stops along the way they will stop at, but it will be full so they don't even stop at those. I ended up walking 3 miles the first day last year (luckily I had plenty of time!) I cycled the other days along the wiggle. It was great, combined with brunch at Zazie's.

icedKeg, I have a suggestion... link all the past years OSL threads on your first post so people can scour those for tips/info regarding transportation and accomodations.

I took BART/MUNI from the East Bay all three days last year, and yes, on the way to the festival it's great. Coming back after the headliner it's horrible. I ended up getting on some strange express bus after McCartney that took an hour to get to Embarcadero BART.

I might do shuttle this year, or I might BART in and give it a go on my bike. We shall see.

Nice to see some folks repping from 'Outer Lands'!

A few times a year, living in the Richmond comes in so clutch.
Not to mention I hear the ocean from my bedroom at night. Suck it Mission!

Can you add on a shuttle pass later? After you have your ticket? or do they have to be purchased together?

What do you mean? He just played at the Fillmore last week, and a free show over the weekend at Amoeba, and he played at 1015 late last year and opened for Pretty lights, as well as at least one other show in the city last year.. he'll most likely play at least one other show this year in SF in addition to those two and OSL.

Living in SF, the only way you can miss out on Tycho is if you don't want to see him. He lives here. 3-4 or more shows per year in the city.

    (I've seen him 8 times)

You CAN purchase them together, but you can also purchase a shuttle pass separately (without a festival ticket) until they sell out.

That's wonderful, however, living 45 minutes away from the city, being a student, and only 17 are some of the factors that come into play. Thanks.

Question about VIP. I've gone one day (non-VIP) last two years. It seemed like last year there was expanded VIP viewing at the "main" stage area (The one where The National and Sir Paul played). As opposed to two years ago where the only VIP viewing was from the suite level, there seemed to be a carved out section that went right up to the stage for VIPs. I also might be misremembering. Anyone know? The OSL website isn't helpful.

I think that's an Super-VIP section for sponsors and special guests. I could be wrong.

All I know is that's where I saw John Stamos chilling last year during Hall & Oates.

The OSL website hasn't updated their VIP ticket section for some reason.

No wristbands unless you go VIP. Just like last year.
