The following are at Way Out West in Sweden which runs Aug 7-9. Would think this makes them all unlikely.
neutral milk hotel
the national (wasn't happening anyway after them playing last year)
royksopp and robyn
Could definitely see New Politics there at Twin Peaks during the day. They have a sold out show at the Independent this Sunday.
Love the fake but Deafheaven is out as they are at Oya fest in Norway on Aug 8. Fully expect to see them at Way Out West too. Slowdive and Darkside are playing Oya on Aug 9th so they are likely out too.
is arcade fire out of the question? i know theyve never repeated before but this could be the year
I personally would hold off on Eager Beaver tickets. It is only something like 10$ cheaper or so, not really worth it without knowing the line up IMO. Also this never sells out super fast anyways. I guess that could change but if last years took a long time to sell out I don't see why this years wouldn't.
I'm hoping my brothers schedule allows him to go this year but who knows. The hard life of being a med student doing rotations.
I think it was close to $100 difference last year.
There are in fact three levels; the eager beaver things sell out literally in three minutes (ticket master app recommended), then for half an hour or so (or perhaps longer) there are "advanced" tickets, which were something in the region of $50 odd cheaper than full price tickets. Essentially you are gambling for $50 or so that the lineup isn't going to stink. I think it's a definite gamble worth taking. Outside Lands is quite a gentrified festival - the food and beer and wine and chocolate lands are half the attraction. A below par lineup will have a) enough else going for it and b) plenty on the undercard to make it worthwhile, if you ask me.
Yes. Unlike other major music festivals, where there is a healthy presence of lower socioeconomic brackets, OSL is quite gentrified.
Yes. I can't think of a good term that could describe the mindset of most of the OSL goers, but it's definitely fair to say that music is not the primary reason a good chunk of them go, and they behave as such, which has made for some exceedingly frustrating moments every time I've gone.
Danny Brown is skipping SF on his tour in April-May (Although he has a date in Santa Cruz among five California cities). It makes me feel like he will definitely be at OSL since he is skipping the Bay Area and will be at Squamish on 8/8.
Yeah if McCartney couldn't get me there last year I'm probably never going back. The crowd really pisses me off.
Spicy pie is mainstream shit.
Danny Brown is a joke, my least favorite performance from Treasure Island festival last year. A lot of the crowd left to go do other things.
