Default What's The First Website You Visit To Hear A New Band?

So here's the scenario--there's a band you just heard of (a friend recommended them, you read an article online about them, they're playing a show you're going to be attending, whatever) but you want to find out what they sound like.

What's the first website you hit to try to determine whether or not they interest you?

Honestly, it's whatever website pops up when I type the band name into a new tab or the google search bar.

Though I've been confused by bandcamp sometimes, because sometimes the music isn't actually streaming? OR I'm too stupid to figure out where on the bandcamp site it IS streaming. Probably the latter and I'm not that interested in learning.

Spotify. Easier to switch around to different songs, and I usually have it open in the background.

    Youtube if not found.

the way you phrased the question leads me to a different answer than in the other thread. if I am wanting to check out a new band that usually means I want to hear more than one song, in which case bandcamp is my preferred means as it is a pretty basic site streaming usually full releases free of ads. youtube is a better tool for sharing single songs with others and for that reason a stronger promotional tool.

Pretty much. I usually go to consequence of sound to read about them, or here, and take it from there

I also Spotify to listen to different albums, popularity, etc. but I also want to know what they're like live by searching YouTube, especially if I'm debating buying tickets.

I don't trust youtube videos in any way for confirming a band's live show. Fan videos can't adequately express stage presence and energy.

Of course it's not going to replicate being there. I seek out fan videos sometimes to find out things like the tempo at which bands play certain songs compared to the album, how textured it might be live compared to the album, things like that. Many bands can't replicate what I like about them on record in a live setting, and sometimes it's easy to pick up on those things by watching a YouTube video.

I found Bmack's response pretty weird too. Of course they're not a perfect way to evaluate a live show, but can you come up with a better one?
