Pro tip: you can also use the underside of a cast iron pan if you don't have a pizza stone. Pop it under the broiler while you prep your dough and then just try not to melt your skin off.

Cornmeal on the pizza peal, yes. On the stone? you'll just have burnt cornmeal stuck to your pizza. If your stone is properly preheated and the pizza thoroughly cooked sticking should not be much of an issue
