The friday is a half day essentially. So are they going to poach bands that play Capitol Hill Block Party now? And make it harder on Bumbershoot too? This seems counterproductive for them in regards to festival variety and such.
Ooh 3 day 4th of July weekend next year! ...is all I get out of this thread.
it's summer, baby.
Also, I imagine Sasquatch will announce both line ups at the same time. Probably early February like usual. I wonder how presale is going to go down though...
It'll be curious to see if Edmonton's Sonic Boom, Portland's music NW or Squamish festival switch up their dates to piggy back acts.
I am excited about the possibilities this opens up.
I don't really get why they both have to be named Sasquatch? It's two different festivals at the same venue.
Top to bottom, they cant even out one festival of solid acts together. Twois going to be stretched thin. Put me in the "this is going to be a flop" group.
Daft Punk playing both.
I wish I lived in the Pacific Northwest
(That's not to say that I don't want it to succeed, I definitely do. Hopefully I can do the July 4th weekend.)

Between Sasquatch and Squamish, promoters for think they can go from roughly 40,000 passes sold in 2012 or 2013 to close to 80,000 in 2014.
if the festiival doesn't do well they'll go back to one weekend. festivals i should say. i don't see what the big deal is. if nothing else, it'll be less crowded. seems like a win/win.
two lineups and less people at each.
For instance, if you want to see QOTSA in the Northwest this summer your only choice is Squamish and being on the hook for a good $300 just to see the one performance. Through an industry source I've heard their touring goes deep into 2014, but there are acts on the summer festivals that don't really do other shows - or if they do it's in Bend, Oregon.
City & Colour just announced a May 23rd 2014 Vancouver show at Deer Lake Park with Half Moon Run opening.
I also know of a very cool sub-headliner act booked a in the area for the July Sasquatch. It's announced next week to coincide with their notable Black Friday RSD release.
