How far away from the campground is your house located?
What a bummer, I hope this is not true. Planning to go weekend 2, hopefully this means I can grab a cheap ticket!
Well now we know what happens when you don't have pop acts on a bill . Lineup was so good .
Spicy pie is mainstream shit.
The blog post blames the dates, but I think it's very safe to say that it was the "weaker" headliners that really did it in. Casual festival goers won't go for Soundgarden, Kraftwerk and New Order.
That being said... I really hope they bring Kraftwerk to Memorial Day weekend now, as I'll be in attendance and have to miss out on the Oakland shows.
I don't think it can solely be blamed on weak headliners. Trying to get a large chunk of your demographic of festival goers to shell out the money for TWO festivals, with the second one being 6 weeks after the first is asking a lot, especially considering how young most of the people who go to Sasquatch are to begin with. Sasquatch hasn't ever been primarily a destination festival, which hurts the chances of weekend 2 being successful on that alone as well.
Its just crazy since the capacity is only 25,000 or so, right? You would think that would be an easy number to get to. There were a ton of really good acts on that bill. Hopefully for you guys they will be playing replacement shows in the Pac Northwest. I'm hoping some of those acts make their way down to SF that weekend as well.
I feel bad for Al&Mel, but like others have said there are a ton of fun things to do in Seattle and Portland that weekend. You can do some amazing hikes in the Columbia River Gorge as well.
classic late-Friday bad news dump
and what a bizarre statement they put out ... no explicit apology and arguably no implicit one either
Fucking bush league move by Sasquatch. I feel really bad for anyone who was going to the second weekend.
Pretty Lights/Jack W/Iver/Beck

Pixies/SC Incident/Coldplay headlined single day festivals 2003-2005
This is up there with the cancelled travelling Lollapalooza national tour in 2004. HOB was behind that.
Well I'm pretty fucking crushed. I knew sales would not be great for July since a lot of the usual Sasquatch crowd doesn't give a shit about the headliners, but I never expected them to actually cancel it.
I'm really curious how many tickets they actually sold.
I'm trying to recall the last festival cancellation I heard of. it was that Miami one, I think. what was it called? Bang? in 2007?
It seemed like they were trying to appeal to a different demographic than usual with the July lineup, and even though I loved it, it seems like the Sasquatch going public did not.
A baseless rumour was that Prince was supposed to be on the July lineup but dropped last minute. Would have been interesting to see how things played out if that actually happened.
Damn. The Gorge will have to wait for another time. I thought the lineup was really good. Different then what other festivals are putting out there but different doesn't move tickets.
12/10 Tamo Sumo, Prins Thomas, Dorisburg @ PW | 12/11 Moderat @ Fox Theater | 12/12 Prism Tats @ Brick & Mortar (?) | Day for Night 12/17-12/18 | 1/7 Avalon Emerson @ PW Loft | 1/14 Silent Servant, Volvox @ Monarch | 1/17 Marching Church @ Rickshaw Stop | 1/19 Mogwai @ UC Berkeley Theater(?) | Heron Oblivion @ The Chapel
It's a shame because it would have sold out.
Needs moar Skrillrex bruh.
I think some American EDM festivals had issues with locations or permits.
I can't think of a North American destination festival of note in recent memory that posted a full lineup and cancelled because of ticket sales.
