Thread: Austin Psych Fest 2014

All the east coast Primal Scream dates now show as canceled on Ticketmaster. Kinda surprising APF still hasn't posted anything about it or responded to any questions about it on Facebook, considering PF was the festival's top-billed band.

2nd line-up announcement is "imminent." Also, Temples will be one of the added bands according to APF's facebook.

If I were a betting man, and I am, my money would be on getting the addition announcement tomorrow. Let's rock.

APF confirmed Spiritualized won't be there this year, in response to a question on Facebook.

    <3 the news today...

The Reverberation Appreciation Society confirms a second wave of acts performing at the seventh annual Austin Psych Fest May 2-4 at Carson Creek Ranch. Headliner Primal Scream has fallen off the bill following news last week that the Scottish rockers canceled their U.S. tour.

"The cancellation of a top-billed artist is quite a blow for a small independent festival like Austin Psych Fest," admits festival organizer Rob Fitzpatrick. "While we did our best to try and keep them on the bill after the tour got scrapped, the band couldn't make it work."

In their place, the Brian Jonestown Massacre, which headlined Psych Fest two years ago, and Dandy Warhols, the former act's co-stars in essential rock doc Dig! This second vetting, which comes in the wake of the APF's initial Dec. 4 announcement, heralds the return of Nigerian guitar slinger Bombino, who pairs nicely with fellow Saharan desert rockers Terakaft.

Other notables joining previously announced psych festers Loop, the Zombies, the Horrors, Of Montreal, Black Lips, and Black Angels include garage-pop idol Mikal Cronin, Swedish retro-metallers Graveyard, and TV on the Radio side project Higgins Waterproof Black Magic Band. The Octopus Project leads a list of new locals: Pure X, Holy Wave, Roger Sellers, and Mirror Travel. Other new additions include Temples, Night Beats, Warlocks, Peaking Lights, Pink Mountaintops, the Fresh & Onlys, Bardo Pond, Asteroid #4, Sleepy Sun, Cosmonauts, Indian Jewelry, Elephant Stone, Golden Animals, Morgan Delt, Mark McGuire, Secret Colours, Doug Tuttle, and Les Big Byrd. "We know it will be the best year yet," enthuses Fitzpatrick, "regardless of this bump in the road."

They were awesome a couple years ago at Psych Fest, FAR better than they even were at Coachella, which was fantastic. So many crazy assed Anton quotes, dude had me in stitches. We're in for a treat.

Oh sweet I really wanted BJM to replace Primal Scream but doubt it would happen since they just headlined a few years back. This such great news since I have only seen them at Coachella 2009 and never listened to them before .I really fell in love with the band in 2010 2011 and missed their 2012 west coast dates since I was In Israel at the time.I'll have to make sure Cara see Dig! now since both bands are playing.

No, I wasn't on the board and hadn't met boardies in 2009. I didn't learn about them til after. I think I was waiting patiently for Peter Bjorn & John on the main.

Good to see Elephant Stone back. They were great at the fest last year and apparently killed it opening for Besnard Lakes on their last tour. They kind of remind me of Tame Impala.

Also, need to start researching some of these additions.

BJM & Dandy Warhols. How awesome is that? Been a long time fan of BJM. Caught half their set in 09 at coachella. I might buy my weekend pass to this fest in the next couple of weeks.

I know this is has been talked about before but there's another phase still coming, right?

I'm actually really into this lineup and generally excited for this trip. Now I'm wondering about if I should get Deluxe Upgrades for Cara and I for this
DELUXE BAR SERVICE - Want a drink, but don’t want to miss the next song? The bar will bring a selection of drinks to you.
Now this would be completely useless to me if I can bring my own beer into the campgrounds and into the festival.

I think the aspect of the deluxe upgrade that would be most detrimental for you is the free wifi and charging stations.

I doubt "Deluxe Bar Service" will be worth it. There are bars/concessions all over the place and hardly any lines/big crowds for anything.
