FFF may be in the cards for me come fall (and lineup dependent, of course).
I've done ACL 3 times as well, after the mudfest that was ACL '09 (plus with how crowded the park gets in the evening), don't think I'm gonna do ACL again anytime soon.
We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.
Probably covered already, but really hoping the "announce lineup" and "put tickets on sale" on the same day isn't the wave of the future.
I'm either/or between this and OSL, and if this thing sells out day of and I don't have time to discuss lineup with friends, I just can't do it.
I heard months back PJ was going to be back there this year. Usually my sources are pretty good (I broke Voodoo here quite a while back) but this one I will have to check up on. They do have a tour announcement coming and there are lots of shows heavily rumored in the south so it could be true
boo at 2 repeat headliners
April 24 - Queens of the Stone Age
April 26-28 - Levitation
so Muse, PJ, Depeche? So that makes Springsteen the odd man out?
does Springsteen even play US festivals? most they could give him is 2 hours. maybe 2.5 if they're really being generous but he typically plays for 3.5 at his own shows.
April 24 - Queens of the Stone Age

This is what I've been hearing for headliners... The Cure, Muse, Kings of Leon, Depeche Mode, and Phoenix; with Atoms for Peace and Vampire Weekend as subs. The Cure is headlining Lolla, and RHCP headlined Lolla and ACL last year, but who knows if a festival would bring both The Cure and DM, so I would probably switch out Cure with someone like Springsteen. But those bands right there seem to be the general consensus.
I can't foresee Pearl Jam as a headliner - they headlined back in '09, and they're not the type of band to repeat that soon.

decided to go this year, it will be our first ACL. love Austin, been going to sxsw every year, so will try the city now again in the fall
whats the weather like in October usually ?
by october, the temperature dips below 100.
no more single day passes now that its two weekends. that sucks.
in-city festivals should always have day passes IMO.
muse would be rad, only because ive never seen them. they and radiohead are bucketlist for me.
Depeche Mode playing ACL would make sense with how intimate their show was at SXSW. Probably some contract deal to do both gigs.
I got the chance to go last year when a friend managed to get the $60 (50?) dollar presale tickets. My 2 cents (as a 21 year old so this definitely doesn't fit everyone here) is that this fest is a little bit tame for me. Much more diverse crowd age-wise (meaning a lot of high schoolers and even young children) and lots of older Austinites that set up chairs and umbrellas at a stage to hang out and drink all day. The lineups are pretty solid and fairly diverse, but nobody besides headliners ever get more than a 50-70 minute set. Sound bleed was a major issue since the stages are so close together. That said, the food is cheaper, better, and more varied than most festivals I've been to. I personally wouldn't go again unless I had the same option for cheap tickets (SXSW and FFF both sound more to my liking), but had a great time and saw some shows I wouldn't have normally gone to
5/17 Chet Faker
5/25 EDC NY (2manydjs!!!!)
7/18-7/20 Melt Festival
I was gonna say Kings of Leon seem like they should be considered this year, doing a couple random ass fests, ACL would be perfect for them.
11/21 - Pearl Jam - Viejas Arena
i never had sound bleed issues.
I've only experienced bad sound bleed once, in 2010 when LCD Soundsytem played past their alotted time and screwed up deadmau5.
Anyways, Muse is confirmed as a headliner.

Prior to the May 7th full line-up release, Austin City Limits Festival sprinkled the back page of May 2's Chronicle with four clues of confirmed performers. And so far, they've gone shockingly unnoticed.
The festival fashioned four "ads" sandwiched between typical classifieds like "Cash for Gold" and "Quit Smoking Now" that regularly proliferate the page.
They read as follows:
For a little Fun.
Call 555-ACL-FEST
Looking for some Grouplove?
Call 555-ACL-FEST
Zilker Supply Company:
We have great deals on Shovels & Rope #ACLFEST
Seeking True Believers.
Worship with us! #ACLFEST
Get it? The first of the official leaks!
So, so far we have Grouplove, Fun., Shovels & Rope, True Believers, and Muse.
I wonder if the Chronicle is going to do this every day leading up to the fest, kind of like the scratch offs they've done in the past.
ACL ALWAYS HAS GOOD LINEUPS AND AUSTIN IS MAGICAL. I CANNOT WAIT FOR LOLLAPALOOZA, NEVER BEEN BUT I'VE HEARD GREAT THINGS!!!![]()
