How far in advance did they predict the windstorm last year? I can't remember. I felt like it just kind of happened over the course of a couple days. I don't think anyone knew until then what the heck a sand storm was either.
That sandstorm must have really fucked you guys up last year! Its all I hear about from the people who went the first weekend.

Valley temperatures expected to hit 95 this week
Colin Atagi, The Desert Sun 10:59 p.m. PDT April 5, 2014
Coachella Valley residents may get their first taste of summer temperatures this week, although the heat should only stick around for a few days.
High temperatures could reach 90 degrees Sunday and they should be even higher at 95 degrees Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, AccuWeather forecaster Brian Edwards said Saturday evening.
“It’ll be nice and toasty,” he said. “I think near 95 all three days is probably a good bet,” he said. “It’s really going to warm up there.”
National Weather Service meteorologist Roger Pierce, however, said 95-degree temperatures may only last until Tuesday before dropping slightly to 94 degrees on Wednesday.
Thursday should reach a high of 90 degrees before temperatures re-enter the 80s on Friday, he said.
Regardless, it will be the first time since Oct. 26 that Coachella Valley residents feel 95 degrees.
Edwards said it’s not unusual for temperatures to get that high in April and the record for April 7 was 112 degrees in 1989.
Temperatures on Saturday, though, peaked at 80 degrees and there were plenty of people walking through downtown Palm Springs or playing sports at local parks.
People still said they felt the sun shining on them and that they were glad temperatures were cool on Saturday.
“You ask me, things are perfect,” La Quinta resident Donna McDade, 50, said while walking through downtown Palm Springs Saturday afternoon. “We need to enjoy it while we can. We all know it gets hotter (in April).”
Edwards said temperatures should be on the rise again in about two weeks, just in time for the second weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio.
By then, he said, temperatures may once again be in the mid 90s.
Yucca Valley resident Maggy Branson was in Palm Springs Saturday for Dinah Shore Weekend and she said she would be back for the second Coachella Fest weekend.
Although she’s braved the heat during past festivals, it’s never easy.
“In the back of your mind, you’re always hoping it’s not hot, even though it usually is,” said Branson, 21. “I’ll be drinking lots of water as usual just in case.”
Staying cool
Authorities urge anyone engaging in outdoor activity during high temperatures to follow these safety tips:
• Go outside in the morning or evening
• Drink plenty of water
• Wear light clothing
• Find shades, including hats
• Use sunscreen
• Sit down the moment dizziness sets in
• If you call 911, keep yourself cool until paramedics arrive
sounds perfect
weather.com and accuweather have way different forecasts.
lows of 58,61,49 VS weather.com lows of 61,63,65. wtf? weather.com's is more favorable and I think they're more accurate anyhow.
Just drove into PS today. No winds and gorgeous weather.
Weather right now is perfect....almost...too...calm.
It's calm and the storm will come W2. I'm ready for PerfectChella.![]()

Yeah me too. GO NWS! BEAT WEATHER.COM!
Even though the temps seem ok its going to be humid walking on the damp grass. Its going to feel hotter than 90°. Count on it.
weather.com is the most accurate.
NWS is all I use for weather.
But at the same time most weather websites base their info on what the NWS sends out.
I went back to page 7/8 on this thread. It seems most of the wind worries starting coming up on April 8th of last year. That was exactly the same amount of days out tell that following Sunday in which the dust storm happened. food for though....
