I kind of like the idea of being drunk at sunset with Lana on the outdoor.
2005, 2007, 2011, 2012 W1 & W2, 2013 W1 & W2, 2014 W1 & W2, 2015 W1 & W2 and SOON 2016 W1 & W2!!
Sleigh Bells had sunset slot in Mojave in '11, which was damn near perfection.
Leonard Cohen is the standard against which all sunset sets are measured. Modest Mouse last year is the opposite of that. Madness '12 (though there was no visible sun to set) came closest in the last five years.
It's usually a non-electronic act from the 3rd-4th lines, at least on the Outdoor. Best bets:
Fri: Jagwar Ma, the Cult, Neko Case, Bryan Ferry
Sat: City and Colour, Temples, Head and the Heart
Sun: Frank Turner, Beady Eye, the 1975
Its gotta be Bonobo
Jay Electronica 2011
I know the more serene acts are popular picks for sunset, but part of me really wants to rock out to The Afghan Whigs on the Main or Outdoor while the sun is going down and the air is starting to cool.
Warpaint at sunset worked really well at FYF a few years ago too.
friday: Main-broken bells. outdoor-ellie goulding
saturday: Main- foster the people. outdoor- sleigh bells
sunday: Main- Lana Del Rey. outdoor- Strfkr
Jagwar Ma Sunset Mojave slot sounds pretty fucking perfect
Who should get it: Bryan Ferry
Who will get it: HAIM
Who should get it: Woodkid
Who will get it: Bastille
Who should get it: Pharrell Williams
Who will get it: MGMT
Who should get it: Mogwai
Who will get it: Foster the People
Who should get it: Neutral Milk Hotel
Who will get it: Neutral Milk Hotel
Who should get it: Trombone Shorty & Orleans Ave.
Who will get it: Little Dragon
There's no way Pharrell doesn't play the main. 5 pm.
I would like to see STRFKR play the outdoor at Sunset!
As for Lana Del Rey, I finally had a chance to listen to a full live set of hers - wow she is an awful live singer. Why is she famous? Because she is hot and has a weird voice? Simply for being Lana Del Rey? I thought she would play main stage simply because she is a big draw, and Coachella doesn't want to flood the other stages. Though again we'll see how things sort out.
Coachella 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12.2, 13.2, 14.2, 15.2
Outside Lands 10, 11, 13, 14
I tried mirroring lineup placement to last years schedule and lineup. Not even halfway through doing friday I realized how dumb the sets were turning out to be.
AFI, still a negative. Unless its a heineken dome sunset slot
