Same as coachella. Get there Thursday, the acts are Friday- Sunday, and leave Monday. Unless they're having people play Thursday night which would be awesome. Nevertheless, it will be a huge party from the minute you get there to the minute you leave.
I'm hyped on the lineup as well, the woogies gonna be killing this year.
definitely am making the effort to go to this. Haven't had a bad time the 3 LiBs I've been to and expect this year to be bigger and better than ever. Line-up definitely has some power to it; Woogie will boogie all weekend... Been seeing/hearing lots of mixed feelings about the line up but really, it's pretty eclectic and there is always lots to do at the festival. can't wait to do some research, lots of new names which is great!
Second time going to LIB and I couldn't be more excited! Interested in seeing how the new venue tops the previous, as it was a pretty sweet, tightly tucked oasis.
I love all types of music, but I wouldn't say I'm any sort of expert who knows the names and genres of countless of artists/bands/DJs/producers so the opportunity to discover new music through the lineup is going to be fun over the next couple of months.
Any recommendations? So far I'm really digging Nicolas Jaar for the live instrumentation and vocals, Sorne, Tim Green and Tycho. I've been a fan of Eskmo for a few years now so I'm pretty stoked to be seeing him again and I saw Emancipator at LIB back in 2011 so I may check that out, too.
So who is everyone excited to be checking out!? I want to put together a playlist to get me even more pumped up for July!
$275 does seem like a lot, especially since you're not getting the "quality" lineup of such festivals as Coachealla or Outside Lands or Lolla, but what really got me wanting to go back after 2011 was the vibe of the whole festival. Everyone was so chill; the entire environment was so laid back and welcoming. No one made you feel like you were any less for not knowing the entire lineup, everyone was very inviting, very minimal security where you were able to bring your own drink and food, no on hassling you, no fights, no pretension...a whole weekend where you could just escape from reality and enter a whole other world that you never wanted to leave. It was much less about the lineup and more about the environment and people you met. The music, at least for me, was simply the soundtrack to a weekend of full escape. I met so many great people and made so many long lasting experiences to make this a place I want to revisit year after year.
