Yes - but plenty of them. You really don't want to be drinking a lot in that heat anyway. The beer tent to the right of the main stage is pretty decent. Can watch whoever is on from not too far away. Plus side to this is you don't get as many pissheads as UK fests.
Yeah, it's nice to not have many drunks wobbling around. Doesn't keep E-poppin kids from being just as annoying though.
2/21 - Skinny Puppy
5/23-25 - Summer Camp
7/18-20 - Pitchfork Music Festival
8/1-3 - Lollapalooza
Don't the bars end up packed out? If it's a choice of queuing for ages or watching some bands and getting slaughtered on the night.... I've already made my choice![]()
No - the bars do not get packed out. Americans don't seem to have the same urge to constantly have a drink in their hands that the Brit festival massive have. Expect to get served within a few seconds of getting to a bar.
Brilliant, thanks.
Depends on where and when. Way over priced bar in Palm Springs any time of the year vs. Seedy bar near the Del Mar race track after the last race vs. packed out Queen Mary bar during the ink and iron festival (Alcoholism runs in both sides of my family. Win) vs. shit hole bar on Baseline in San Bernardino--- Most will have some game on, though probably not the games you would want to watch (As I endured, appreciatively, hours of putting down pints in Amsterdam pubs with SOCCER (yeah, I said it) games pretty much owning all the tv time. I actually sort of miss it, as I find most bars to be uncomfortable places with slimey people). Maybe dicky193 is thinking more of a club or a rave. *shrugs*
I was talking specifically about the bars at Coachella.
That said, in around 20 trips to the US, I've never waited more than a couple of minutes to get served.
UK festival beer queues can be insane.
You see people waiting in lines at the beer gardens inside Coachella, but you can nearly always cut through to an open one. Some people like to wait. Some people like to pay extra. Who's to stop them? lol
Yeah I meant the bars at Coachella. It can be a long long wait at UK festivals.... Not really bothered with following the footy whilst I'm over there, it's been a season I'd rather forget (so far).
Get to the beer garden. Swig bevies. Get Drunk. See band. Repeat.
Forgive my ignorance, but is it really THAT hot? I've got no idea what to expect.
I train in this climate year around for these two weekends. You guys may need spotters to make sure you don't just flat out die trying to powerhouse seven hundred dollars of festival beers in three and a half days. Now accepting applications.
$700? That's only about £350, cheap weekend ahoy then![]()
Haha something like that. It's more about the festival beer mixed with the sun that some people have trouble with, I'm guessing, not just amount. It does get hot, but it's plenty worth it. You'll have a bad ass Coachella sun burn to brag about when you leave on Monday, if people aren't noticing that you haven't taken your wristband off yet (trying to remain in that glow)
Sounds good to me! How hot does it get then?
It can be anywhere from 75 F to 110 F or so. Friday and Saturday of weekend one were kind of drizzly, but amazing I thought. Coolest weather I've ever experienced on the fields. Then it can be three days of cloudless sun, which can he pretty shitty until dusk when the magic hits.
Oh yeah. C not F. Funfun

So serious daytime drinking is sounding kinda suicidal.. Cheers for the info folks.
We could alternate. Drink. Water. Drink. water.
