Early Set Time Predictions 2013

Before clumsy or boourns or someone makes the individual day set time prediction game threads what are some early thoughts on how the set times will go? Will there for sure be a 6th stage? If so, what music will be in it and how long will the acts be allowed to play?

Just filling in the 3 days rather quickly it seems Friday and Saturday are too stacked to fit 5 stages while Sunday fits just right.

This leads me to believe that some of these artists (I'm hoping some of the better EDM gets such as Richie Hawtin so he can have an extended set time) will be performing late night on a stage in the campsite.

Unless everybody is getting really short set times, there has to be a new stage which I assume will house some dance music but maybe not exclusively. None of them will be performing in the campsite, that doesn't really happen anymore.

Still holding onto hope for a 2009 Dome-like stage to come back to the campsite.

I've been mentally working out in my head a scenario where Blur and Stone Roses play with the outdoor unopposed, with YYYs right before, and Modest Mouse on the outdoor in between the two headlining sets. The lineup seems too stacked to support this, but I don't see that Paul wouldn't have a) learned from 2010 and Pavement/Phoenix, b) wouldn't want everybody to see this get, and c) hasn't taken into account that many festival goers will choose other sets over this due to unfamiliarity. Last Friday he made sure the other major stage was empty for both Pulp and Mazzy Star to ensure that the casual fans would be in attendance.

I think you can throw a lot of your earlier main/outdoor acts in the Mojave, and a lot of those Mojave acts don't have to play a tent that large. Seems like the new tent will not be solely devoted to EDM, there is just way way way too much going on for all the other bands to just play the four existing non-EDM stages/tents. Crazy to see all those bands laid out like that on paper...there are so many solid acts on Friday and Saturday...

Does anybody think there is a chance they are extending curfew, just like 2010 when nobody could fathom how they were going to fit all the acts before the end of the night? New stage to some degree is all but confirmed, but these inevitable conflicts are going to be brutal...an extra hour would make a huge difference.

Just trying to remember when exactly they announced the 2010 extension. It was way after the lineup came out, I thought. I really, really doubt it too, but even with an extra stage these conflicts are going to be brutal, unless they start scheduling big but not huge acts (like the Metric/Local Natives/Tegan & Sara/Band of Horses sized bands) way earlier than normal on the main/outdoor. I mean, there are bands on the fifth lines that could legitimately fill the Mojave (Major Lazer, 2 Chainz, Airborne Toxic Event, Dropkick Murphys). I know Saturday is the boardie freakout day, but every single act from the first 4 lines of Friday is indisputably Mojave sized material, at least. OM&M could easily fill the outdoor, too. I had Passion Pit pegged as the tail end of the 2nd line for a 2012 sized lineup, they are playing arenas and Madison Square Garden on their tour, and they are in the middle of the third. La Roux's billing went from sixth on her day just last year, to 11th. That is crazy!

Just now realizing the a Blur/Jurassic 5 conflict is very likely to happen. Hopefully its the Stone Roses vs J5 because I could care less to see them but I would like to see Blur. Might have to be a split set

Datsik closed the Sahara because Swedish House Mafia was on the main and nobody cared about Datsik. I wasn't anywhere near that tent but I can only imagine it was insanely empty...which is sort of funny, thinking that the Sahara closer played to an empty tent two out of three nights last year.
