I like The Stone Roses but I keep hearing that the singer is going to sound like shit live so I'm not sold.
The singer tends to sing a little off key, it's true.

I miss talking to TomAz.
We all do. I live in the same city as him (unless he relocated) and rumor has it that at 3:15am if you listen closely and its really really quiet you can hear him telling you to go fuck yourself.
They are the tipping point for me coming to Coachella this year! Just like Daft Punk was the other time I've attended.
I AM SO FLIPPING EXCITED OMG U GUYS BLAST OFF TO PLANET DANCEFACE!!1!0ne!
I've been listening to their first album for the last few days and can see why people love them. Its solid all the way through and will for sure be making am attempt to see them on friday.
As for the best album to come out of England, that is clearly exile on main street followed by about 5 Beatles albums.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're saying The Stone Roses don't make truly good music.
As The Dude would say, "Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, uh, your opinion man."
And the point of these posts is for those who aren't familiar with them to have a chance to think for themselves by listening and determining whether they're essential or essentially shit. My opinion is that they're essential and deserving of a headline spot. Doctors don't prescribe the same medicine to everyone. I know people who think The Beatles suck dick, as in have actually listened to their records several times and think they are awful. I pity them, and was under the impression that they were the one band that was universally recognized as being great, but that's their opinion.
Here's one no one has posted yet (it's on their first album). I love the quiet/loud dynamics and how Ian Brown whispers the title in the chorus. The production on this one is why headphones were invented. This is one of those songs that builds into a fury. This is one of those songs The Stone Roses are known for making, which leaves you euphoric. This Is The One!
They never took off here in the U.S., because of the legal fight they were having with their label. That's why it took for ever to get the second album out. When your label has you in "legal limbo" and their not promoting your music...your not going to make it big in the U.S. Sad to see that the people who like EDM, are bashing the Stone Roses. They were very inluential to the early days of the "Rave scene". It's great to see other people digging their sound. It's going to be a great experience for sure. Especially when I drop 2MDMA capsules and smoke a fat ass splif during their set...I'll be passing it to the left. ;0)

Britpop Nerd Trivia: Who was that label?
Silverstone
Blackpool in the area. Full show here. Watch it as it's a classic.
for the crowd carrying it all
Please wear your flared jeans for this. i am very excited about seeing them. Early days of LA Rave got major influence from Manchester and the bands that came from there.
On a connected note, the link to this doc was in the Documentaries of 2013 bands thread (good stuff in there). The story is pretty crazy, funny and sad and i liked it a lot:

The Stone Roses, WHAT THE WORLD IS WAITING FOR!!!!!
These modern day E-Tards have obviously never heard of TheMadchester music scene.
Cooler than a polar bears toenails.
