Boris' Präparat is fucking awesome. It does kind of have the feeling of a compilation album, but from a band like Boris, and as someone who is a huge fan of and familiar with all their work, I really like hearing something that is a mix of all of their sensibilities, rather than a full on stylistically cohesive piece. This one has dream pop, drone, sludge, huge arena rock anthems, swamp metal, doom - pretty much everything to like about Boris' catalog wrapped up in one record. It's fantastic.

DJ Koze - Amygdala falls flat for me, as excited as I was for it. The Kings of Convenience cover/rework is nice, but nothing memorable, and nothing about the album coalesces as a whole, and I can't even think of two tracks that would even pass for stand out dance floor hits.

Girls Names - The New Life definitely draws from/pays homage to The Cure but I found it immensely enjoyable. Dreamy post-punk pop done well. On the Slumberland label as well!

I listened to it twice this morning, and I'd agree with that assessment - maybe not quite as good as Carrion Crawler, but fuck there is some excellent stuff on it. I can't wait for a better quality rip to surface. "No Spell" and "Night Crawler" are early standouts for me.

Yeah, definitely. I was careful not to say it was their best work, haha. But a few of those songs had me really tempted. Love it.

Did bands with this sound disappear for like 7 or 8 years or did I just stop paying attention?

New Clutch record is pure rock greatness. So glad to have them playing at full volume and speed after the mellow tracks on the last record. Those weren't bad but nothing beats Clutch going all out.

Good news. I listened to the new albums from Autre Ne Veut, Justin Timberlake, and Bleached and all of them are pretty great and definitely albums I will be returning to pretty frequently.

Speaking of Autre Ne Veut, is it just me or does he sound a lot like Jay Kay from Jamiroquai?

Would also like to echo the praise for the new Thee Oh Sees album. Any fans of Carrion Crawler will feel right at home listening to the new one. Tunnel Time is my favorite two listens through but the whole album is really awesome.

It definitely is Clutch getting back to basics. It's awesome. I highly recommend them live, too.

The 20/20 Experience meets my expectations from what I've heard from board members here so far. Solid album. Also, I never thought that I would say that 'Strawberry Bubblegum' song is my jam. Good job JT.

The 20/20 Experience is this years' Channel Orange for me where I like a couple songs but do not get the hype amd praise everyone else is pulsing with.

I may be wrong but I don't think people will be all over JT's album like they were for Frank Ocean last year - topping end of year lists. But I understand what you mean - I didn't get Frank Ocean's massive praise either.
