Aw yeah, gurl.
First Jay-Z single (the album is out on the Samsung phone app now, too):
This sounds like a good JT song marred by a tacked-on, pointless Jay-Z performance, so essentially it's "Suit & Tie, Part 2."
Unfortunately this song is the lead single on Jay-Z's album this time.
lead single?? the whole album is out
11/21 - Pearl Jam - Viejas Arena
Her DJ Kicks mix is fantastic, but I was disappointed with the album as well.
I love me some pop. The word never came across my mind when listening to Maya's record though. Then again, I've been listening to Disclosure's record all summer so I've probably built up some sort of immunity.
I'm very pleased with the new Moderat record; it's a nice progression from their previous record, but doesn't stray too far away from their sound. Standout tracks for me are 'Milk', 'Damage Done', & 'Gita'
On a different subject, any thoughts on Magna Carter?
Not sure why it took browsing Pitchfork's 'Overlooked Records' and not the recs of reliable board members in this thread to listen to William Tyler's Impossible Truth but it is a wonderful summer day album.
I'm curious to see how AlunaGeorge's album turns out. I've enjoyed their singles quite a bit, and I'm hoping that their work with Disclosure bleeds into their own work. This could likely be setting expectations too high, but time will tell.
I just want to reiterate how good Yeezus and ...Like Clockwork are.
Also, the new Gun Outfit album is great Sunday morning music. Much more relaxed than their previous records.
After reading TinyMixTapes' mid-year best-of list I discovered the album Cień chmury nad ukrytym polem by Polish band Stara Rzeka, one which combines pastoral folk, krautrock, noise/drone, and even some black metal to spectacular effect. Seriously, this stuff is from another planet entirely and is well deserving of your time; listen to it on their Bandcamp page here: http://stararzeka.bandcamp.com/album...nstant-classic
I forgot to mention that the album closes with a fucking awesome cover of Nico's "My Only Child."
They're streaming David Lynch's new album on Pitchfork. I'm about halfway through and really liking it. very dreamy and trip-hoppy. I never checked out that album he came out with before but I'm going to have to if its anything like this one

How does II compare to Moderat's first album? For some reason I've never listened to this collaboration, but I have fallen absolutely head over heels for II since first hearing it a few days ago. Might just give Deafheaven a run for it's money for my favorite album of 2013 so far.
Both are really good. If you like II definitely check out the self titled.
Washington post Review of Magna Carta Holy Grail: "It's the sound of champagne being sprayed around an empty locker room." lol. I haven't been a fan of Jay-z since Reasonable Doubt, his whole business mogul schtick got old at least a decade ago. It was as if he was emulating Puff Daddy.
Yeezus season approaching, fuck whatever y'all been hearin'.
I once again fucking LOVE the Mayer Hawthorne album. 3 albums in and this guy can do no wrong for me. Another solid, soulful group of tunes. Hope to see him on this tour. The song "Allie Jones" is the shit.
5/6 - Thris Tian - Studio - HK
5/7 - Nick Monaco - Studio - HK
About Group - "Between these Walls" is a project involving Alexis Talyor and a few other semi famous musicians from other bands in a experimental rock band with an accent of funk as well country songs in this album. As in Hot Chip Alexis writes in this witty ambiguous pop lyrics and in About Group he write in this comparatively of an straight forward desperation to hopeful mood within this group album. Its a good listen even if your not feeling as down as these songs are and as well some very layerful experimental instrumental tracks.
Arcade Fire on October 29th (via Pitchfork)
The new Weekend record is fucking fantastic.
