That tree on the cover of the YLT album is real, by the way. It's located in north Portland's Overlook Park. Beautiful.
Here's a short article about it too: http://www.wweek.com/portland/blog-2..._portland.html
I love them too. I need to see them live.
Toro Y Moi - Anything In Return. Dude never dissapoints.
That's all you have to tell us? We've got a thread to report new albums coming out. This one is for giving a (brief if you want it to be, but we'd much more appreciate detailed and thought out) review of something after you've listened to it.
These songs should be interesting...

Just listened to Long.Live.ASAP and its a fun listen. Rocky does pretty good on his debut with a variety of guests by his side from everyone to skrillex, to santigold. The highlight of the record has to be the jam packed track Train though, killer rap song with verses from ASAP, Kendrick, Drake, Joey Badass, Yelawolf, Danny Brown, Action Bronson, and Big Krit.
That ASAP Rocky album sounds like something I would despise.

Usually there's at least one really fantastic stand out song per Yo La Tengo album, but I didn't hear one on my first listen through Fade. Not a bad album but it seemed totally unexceptional within their catalog. Maybe something will pop out on repeat listens.
Which one is your favorite? I think mine is the second one...
http://imeusdesign.4ormat.com/my-bloody-valentine-newI had the opportunity to pitch for the sleeve design on the new My Bloody Valentine sleeve, no brief, just a few images supplied by the band. 4 rounds of pitches and i was pipped to the post at the last minute, still waiting to for the release so I can see who won the job!. I was over the moon even to be in the running as MBV have always been one of my favourite bands! All typography is taken from the Loveless album as placeholder text as I wasn’t privvy to any song titles or sleevenotes! My only direction was that the sleeve should be ‘Abstract’ and ‘Hynagogic’
Re: ASAP ROCKY
I usually can't stand this flashy, "gangster", pop/rap, "we're bad-ass-weed-smoking-ho-fucking-killah" bullshit 'hip hop' music, but this album has some slow jams and clever wordplay which I am digging. The run from Phoenix>Suddenly>Jodye really worked for me on first listen. There's some nice nods to Outkast and other old hip-hop acts that I like. This seems like it might be rewarding after multiple listens. I also enjoy the Santigold track and "1 Train." There are definitely a couple of skippable tracks, but for the most part I think I dig this.
This makes me happy because I've been trying to get into "new" hip hop for the last few years and I've hated pretty much everything. Not sure if my tastes have changed, i.e. I'm warming up to this, or new hip hop is actually just getting better.

Everything Everything, new album Jan 14th, previewing tracks ^^...Interesting brit pop band. caught my radar last year with photoshop handsome...
To be honest most of them look kind of crappy and I hope the dude doesn't get the final design. They seem too clearly influenced by Isn't Anything and Loveless without trying to add much to the ideas on those covers.
'Course, I think those two covers really capture the sounds of the albums in visual form, and I (and he) have no idea what the new one will sound like.
And wow. Who would have thought even a few months ago that we'd be able to be having a real conversation about the album art for the new My Bloody Valentine album. What a time to be alive.
Yea it's not great or exciting but hopefully the music inside will be great![]()

METZ
Thanks to everyone who helped to make 2012 such a great year for METZ. We are currently in the studio making some new music that should see the light of day sometime in 2013. Make sure to keep your eye on www.metzztem.com for more and more tour dates. Happy holidays.
I had no idea all those acts were having albums this year. But they left off TEAM GHOST, who is finally releasing a full length album in 2013. That is what i am most excited about right now. And I really need to check out that Low leak asap

I've listened to the Toro Y Moi album a few times now and am very satisfied. I think he's done a great job of transcending the pigeonhole of 'chillwave'. His production is head and shoulders above any of his contemporaries and is definitely his strongest asset. Some of these tunes flirt with house in a way that no other band or musician in the genre does and it serves him well. The highlight for me is definitely Rose Quartz. A slow builder that uses well placed funky samples and a motorik beat that blossoms into a sexy jam. His employs his voice well throughout the album but no better for me then on this track. It also illustrates the house leaning tendencies Bundick is toying with. The only issue I have with it overall is that there are times throughout the album where he loses my attention and can sink into the background instead of demanding attention. I could easily see Pitchfork slapping an 8.3 and best new music tag on this and calling it a day.
A new deerhunter album sounds wonderful!
