Initial 2013 lineup drop today! And man, it's looking groovy.
Tickets on sale now!!!
Thanks. I have been waiting all day for this.
it's summer, baby.
The site is being overloaded with traffic, this might be the year this thing sells out. Then again, I have no idea about the capacity this time around.
It's at a ranch this year, which is super weird... but it might end up being a nice reprieve from downtown traffic. Time to book a nearby hotel!
I'm telling you guys, it's the perfect post-Coachella comedown. April is even more amazing with this as a bookend.
Damn, this is amazing.
Found it, wow what a lineup. Isn't this cheap?

A 3 day pass is $120.
Wow, their website is so effed up at the moment. But I was able to get some more info:
For the first time in our 6 year history Austin Psych Fest will be held at a completely outdoor venue. Carson Creek Ranch is a scenic 58 acre ranch nestled on the banks of the Colorado River just five minutes from downtown Austin, TX.
The event will be held rain or shine. We look forward to presenting the festival in a beautiful, natural environment, and to create the best sound, lighting and overall festival experience yet.
We are exploring a camping option on festival grounds this year. More information to come in January.
We currently have deals with the following hotels located just minutes from the venue. When you call to reserve your room make sure you mention Austin Psych Fest for the discounted rate.

I think I am going to this, I hope it is as good as it looks. Anyone know what capacity of previous festivals was?

I think it was previously held mostly inside of venues, wasn't it?
Yeah but I am just trying to gauge based on that, cuz I can't imagine they will more than double capacity
How awesome of a music city is Austin that it not only supports multiple festivals, but they all seem to be growing/thriving?
Has anyone been to Carson Creek Ranch before? The location is a HUGE selling point for me (on top of a killer line-up).
Amazing initial lineup. I just worry that if I went it might get kind of tiresome, with it all being the same genre more or less. Psychedelia is one of my favorite genres for sure, but after like an hour on Spotify I'm ready for something different. And it would suck to get that feeling after going out of my way to attend a festival like that.
Answer: More LSD.
6/27 - Anderson Paak - The Theatre at the Ace Hotel - LA
I find most of these bands to be different enough not to even worry about that, IMO none of the bands that I know on the top 4 or 5 lines sound THAT similar. Also, what ods said
Jesus that lineup is ridiculous. Time to start saving $$$. This is gonna be fun.
The site is up and running, was able to complete my purchase today. There was some weird error dialog box that popped up but it wasn't anything serious.
EDITED TO ADD: I went through my pictures from last year and I think maybe 2k is too big of a number.
The main 20 acre pasture includes a 30x40 covered pavilion and has a beautiful grove of pecan trees along the banks of the Colorado River, where we also have a natural amphitheater set into the banks overlooking the Colorado.
Awesome info, Fourth. I like how they have non-psych stuff on these line-ups (Black Lips last year, White Fence this year, etc.). I see that they're announcing "many more" acts in January. How many bands are usually added? Also, how many stages are there?
Also, here a few pics of the ranch:
The dirt you see here is where one of the stages will be (I'm pretty sure):
Here's where the amphitheater style seating will be for the aforementioned stage:
As long as we're demanding more "Black" bands be added, I could definitely see Black Moth Super Rainbow there next year.
In the past there have only been two stages, which falls in line with the ranch's claims to have the pavilion and amphitheater setup.
And nice job finding those pics of the ranch grounds "in construction"! I was looking for something like that to scope it out for myself.
Nice. Who were some of the additions last year? I think Black Lips were one of them, yeah?
They weren't one of the ones, but the additions last year were:
Meat Puppets, Thee Oh Sees, And You Will Know Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead (Who ended up canceling), The Golden Dawn, Entrance Band, Dead Confederate, Mind Spiders, Asteroid #4, Blue Angel Lounge, Singapore Sling, Wall of Death, Feathers, New Fumes, Feeding People, The Paperhead, Brooklyn Raga Association, The Ripe, Holy Wave, Al Lover, Strangers Family Band, Stepkids, Secret Colours
And the additions from the year before:
Roky Erickson, Indian Jewelry, Beaches, Black Hollies, Lumerians, The Soft Moon, Young Prisms, The Quarter After, Woodsman, Tjutjuna, Lower Heaven, Quest For Fire, The Meek, The Diamond Center, The Sky Drops, Holy Wave
