it seems like every single time i go to the polls, the person in front of me either is at the wrong location or their name isn't on there or some other issue. and usually it takes all people working the sign-in booth to help them, instead of one person helping them and the rest signing people in. i don't get it.

Voters have 10 days to provide ID (if that is why they had to cast a provisional ballot). But if everyone showed up on Wednesday and provided ID they could them right then. That of course won't happen but over time the number of provisional ballots remaining will dwindle. Simplest case is when it drops below the vote gap the state can be called with no concerns. Though of course we probably won't even have to wait that long.
And it is entirely reasonable to expect that it will be over even with a Florida, Ohio or Pennsylvania not yet decided. In 2008 the election went to Obama the night off even though they were still working in North Carolina.

It should be counted if it matters (as discussed above) and you were actually at the right place to vote. But yeah, that has got to be frustrating.
I don't think I'm hosting a 2016 collaborative playlist.

I want to thank you all again for the reception you gave me in August for my AMA. Good questions. Definitely not bad.
I'm checking in because polls will start closing in this election in just a few hours, and I need you to vote.
Millions of Americans have stepped up in support of this campaign over the last 19 months, and today we decide what the next four years look like -- but only if we show up.
I ask that you go out there and cast your vote, whatever your political persuasion.
You can confirm your polling location here: https://www.barackobama.com/lookup
If you’ve voted already, don't stop there -- spread the word to your friends, roommates, and neighbors. Think of it as upvoting.
