Catching that gold line and making the transfer after being on your feet all day can be nice though.
in 2009 i missed a gold line train at 11:59pm and thought I was going to miss the subways altogether and ran my to Union Station after having been drinking and on my feet in 102 degree weather all day. I got there in 5 minutes only to find the last red line train didn't come for another 15 minutes. i thought I was going to throw up, i was so out of breath and wheezing so hard hahaha
EDIT: That was before they started running the trains late on the weekends
Awesome fan video made by my friend for Poolside's Next to You. These guys are fucking awesome, so excited for their set.
People really need to check out Washed Out, especially if they've never seen him/them. I hope they play at night. They were the final act of my Primavera weekend last year and it was fucking incredible.
poolside & washed out are both rad. will definitely be at both sets
Because this year's lineup is so tight and has big draws, I wonder what the fate of it will be for next year due to the State Historic Park being closed for renovations:
1) Move venue for just 2014
2) Move venue to a larger permanent location to fit its growth
3) Take the year off after investing more into 2013's lineup
This sounds like a dumb pondering Supre will shut me down with in no time.
They won't take a year off. In 2008 when all the investors dropped out and ruined the plans for turning it into a two-day outdoor festival (HEY!) they scraped together a one-day fest in three venues in Echo Park that was a total blast. FYF will happen. I bet they move just for 2014.
I had never listened to Washed Out other than that song on Portlandia, but I'm digging these tunes.
Decided to make the jump and do this. Will be my first FYF. Gonna get my flight next month and show ticket later in June. What should I expect and be prepared for? Dustbowls sound majestic.
Yeah, the big full band set up is such a fantastic show.
so, I originally just got tickets for my fiance and I as a little surprise for him, no reason, just something nice to do... well it looks like 3-5 of our friends are in, too, so this might turn out pretty well! I have to find a hotel though and IDK anything about these train systems or downtown LA for that matter.
The Miyako Hotel is nice. Put family up there before and no complaints. Right in the heart of Little Tokyo and a stone's throw from the Gold Line. Two stops from the Chinatown Station which drops right at the festival

I know very little about hotels unfortunately, but i can be extremely helpful with info about the subway system.
A quick search brings up this place thoughhttp://www.expedia.com/Los-Angeles-H...t&rfrr=-30461# - which doesn't get great reviews, but the price is great if split by 4 people and you're really only looking for a crash pad anyway. The location is great, right next to a subway stop and centrally located for doing other stuff downtown.
