Stones just got paid $25+ mil for four or five shows. Coachella generally pays headliners $2 mil. Why would they triple that when they have no trouble selling out the fest nearly on brand alone or signing acts at the going rate that are more popular with the kids who actually go to the festival? There's no way it would be an exclusive either, because there's no way the Stones would give up the opportunity/responsibility to serve their large near-geriatric audience who are not going to stand in the Polo Field for hours, but would easily sell 3 nights at Staples at higher average ticket prices.
Never mind the very large question of whether the Stones would do it in the first place.
Never mind that I've effectively been told they aren't playing on both the Coachella end and the Stones end.
Yeah you speak to Goldenvoice reps ..........
Mumford and Sons
Rolling Stones or NIN?
Coachella 2017: 4/14-16 @ Empire Polo Fields
Motorhead has had a lack of mentioning in this thread
I think the rolling stones and GV could very easily pull off both coachella weekends + 2 shows at a major LA venue the week between (staples or something, didn't check dates just theorizing) Lets say sunday at coachella, tues, thurs in LA and then Sunday at coachella. As mentioned before coachella is going to sell out either way and so will any dates they have in LA.
Did Eminem die or something? He is the only logical rap headliner to follow up the past 3 years.
I think he could be closing out.
Cohen/Jay-Z seem to be the only past example and Paul T addressed both in interviews.
First American Rolling Stones festival gig since Altamont 1969? First in 43 years and 2nd Ever is some nice bragging rights.
SARSstock, IOW mean it's a career total of 4 internationally? Ignore the early "festivals" in the UK and Knebworth.
What if *GASP* the Stones are only booked for the first weekend....and Daft Punk only the second?
What if *GASP* neither of those artists are playing and you are all wasting your time?
