The odd thing about the show over the past 5 or so years isn't that the cast is to blame for the show being bad. They've actually had several talented, diverse cast members. It's the writing that's been god awful. Seth Meyers should have been fired a long, long time ago.

Looking forward to the premiere this weekend. I was watching the Mic Jagger one again last weekend and that shit was hilarious. Sympathy for the Devil..Sympathy for the Devil.
Oh, and Bill Hader is firmly establishing himself as another great SNL cast member. He's pretty great in everything that he does.
And I agree on Seth Meyers. He's killing WU.
As much backlash as he seems to take nowadays, Will Ferrell was one of the best cast members. I can't really think of a great cast member since he left.
Edit: In response to the Bill Hader comment above, I think he actually does a good job with his characters on Weekend Update. None of his sketches really stick out to me, though.
Steve Martin in a tie with Baldwin..
I've always found Hader hilarious in most of his sketches, and I've been waiting for years for him to make it big in movies. It seems like every role he just plays average white guy with a funny line or two, he really hasn't had anything to work with on the big screen.
I watch every episode of this show, and nobody in my lifetime has made this show for me like Eddie Murphy.
Maybe it's a generational thing - he was coming up as I was learning what "funny" meant - and he was so much funnier than anybody else on TV at the time - not just SNL, TV as a whole... but man, he just crushed it. Too bad he's such a weird dude that he can't keep being funny and getting along with people in real life.
