I Break Horses are a shoe-gaze/dream pop duo from Sweden. The band (comprised of Maria Lindén and Fredrik Balck) creates very textured soundscapes on top of buzzing synthesizer to layers of distorted guitar and soothing vocals. The band’s sound echoes of My Bloody Valentine, The Jesus & Mary Chain, and early M83. Apparently they kill live as well.
The Suicide of Western Culture are a Spanish instrumental electro/noiserock duo. They take cues from Fuck Buttons in terms of song structures and general insanity, mix it with Suicide-style gritty key sounds and a flair for layers. I am just now checking them out and they are likely to be on my must-see list. Really cool stuff.
Ah, awesome. i just grabbed their record a few hours ago but haven't checked them out yet.
Hot damn this record is awesome! What a nice discovery.
EDIT: This is what they looked like live at Sonar this past week
Cloud Nothings wasn't always a band; in fact, the "group" began in the Ohio bedroom of 21 year-old frontman Dylan Baldi in the form of a "fake" MySpace account — one of the many band profiles Baldi would create and record individual songs for. But when the dimly upbeat lo-fi pop songs created for the profile gained traction on the Internet, Baldi reshifted his focus for the group and began touring and recording behind the Cloud Nothings moniker.
While Cloud Nothings' musical output prior to 2012 falls largely in "indie pop" territory, its newest album Attack on Memory (produced by Steve Albini) signifies a distinct sonic shift into noisier territories. With a new sound came a backing band and a powerful live show unlike any Cloud Nothings experience to date.
Anthemic and unabashedly histrionic, Baldi's new material blends the best of early grunge and noise rock with the saccharine honesty of young adult heartbreak. The raw emotions and experiences detailed on Attack on Memory ooze with a palpable authenticity, never feeling trite or fabricated. This is powerful stuff made just for the angry, emotional teenager in all of us.
