My receipt says "There is a $12 ($9 Facility + $3 Charity included in the base price of each ticket).
This is not a new thing they are doing this year, they did it last year too.

I see no $29 service/convenience fee, but I do have a $116 Delivery fee (for 4 tickets), which coincidentally is 4x$29, so that is the same.

overall tickets are going to be $35 more.
All they are doing is including the shipping in with the price this year.


I don't have much problem with it, but we should be clear on the increase.

Edit: I can't even find if shipping is actually going to be included in the ticket price this year. Can anyone else find it?

Even if the price increase WAS $35, that is spread out over ten payments. That is $3.50 a month. If that is going to be an issue, then buying Coachella tickets in the first place is a poor financial decision.

They are charging more because they can. They sold out quickly last year. That told them that they had it priced too low. If you sold bottles of ketchup for $1.49 and they sold out in two minutes, you would raise the price to $1.99.

They will not give us more services because we paid more. They will give us more services if they (a) tell us that they will provide more services as an incentive to pay the extra money, and/or (2) feel that the services they had been providing mean that fewer people will buy tickets.

Why when I was kid, you got the matinee for $3 if you were an adult and went in before 6pm, not 4pm! Now a days, you see a matinee and its $9.50 before 3pm, then they don't have the popcorn specials, and the kids check your bags so you can't use the good ol' air popper for popcorn from home. Metal detectors have stopped me from bringing in sodas too! DAMN KIDS.

Total cost for a layaway ticket last year was $320. This year it's 349. It's an 8% increase.

Here is my statement. We all didn't buy from Radiohead's website which charged a tad more. This was purchased directly through Coahcella/Front Gate on layway last June.

add the $16 more for the difference between presale and general onsale, $269(or $281 once you add in the $12 charge like on crimescene's receipt)+fees = $320 to the $285+fees = $336. so there was a discount for presale last year, not this year.

Yes I bought the moment they went on presale last year.
If you look at the receipt though I was wrong about the $116 delivery (it's really $10), it just looks that way on first glance.

they just need to start charging $20 for day parking, everyone is so conditioned to have to pay for it at pretty much every other large scale event they go to. would be less outrage over that than the $13 more for a pass this year.

The extra ~$30-40 does suck, but it won't stop me from attending next year. I just want to know what the extra money will be going towards.

If really is just going towards lining their pockets, I will be disapointed. If it will be going towards the festival (expanding the grounds, better maintance of the grass, better EDM bookings, David Bowie, etc...) then I think the cost may be worth it.

I'd like if they resumed bringing art installations that don't fucking suck. And Bowie hand jobs, naturally.
