I see Skrillex on the outdoor next year...maybe in a Girl Talkish kind of spot....I will be avoiding it at all costs.
Really hoping for Underworld, but they might not be in the Sahara either.

Benassi was one of the most massive clusterfucks I've ever seen. While waiting for Fever Ray I was watching people attempting to enter the tent only to be totally rejected by a dense wall of people all the way along the outskirts. From what I remember, Bassnectar was completely packed and spilling out in all directions. The crowds at Orbital, Wolfgang, 2ManyDJs were also full but comfortable. Plastikman was supremely empty. The feeling of a solid breeze blowing straight through the tent was so surreal. But yea, I do believe the days of legitimate EDM in the Sahara are fatally numbered (if not entirely extinct). Ever since Coachella became a Music Festival X a Massive in 2010 (with the 15,000+ tickets), legitimate EDM lost its foothold. Sahara needs to accommodate the dance music that generates the most ticket sales (re: with the greatest popularity). It's only a shame Sahara's gone to the dogs because the Mohave is lacking. Let the kravers have their Ultra/EDC corner, and give us a revamped Mohave in 2013. It's about time.

Im surprised plastikman was relatively empty, maybe if it were a richie hawtin set it'd be different? Glad to hear orbital got a proper showing. Whats sad is that I love edm so I still saw 7 acts in the sahara this year (alot of my friends are into the cheese). Some of the acts were kinda fun and i see the appeal, however my friends were also getting tired of the repetitiveness. I like the idea of juicing up the Mohave, however, It'd be nice if the Sahara had 2 days of cheese and one day of legitimacy. Force people to expand their musical horizon, they may actually appreciate it after the weekend is over. I don't think its necessary to have 2 stages "devoted" to EDM.

The Sahara tent is dead to me. Like a jilted lover, dead.
This isn't much of a prediction, more of a wish, but I fell off the Gus Gus wagon for a few years. Didn't know they were up to such great things in 2011.
Would be great if they could ever get them to perform at Coachella. Probably more of a Gobi act these days, but I think an early slot in the Sahara would also be great.
There's been a bunch of talk about Pretty Lights this year, and while I know they played the Sahara in 2010 I kind of see them as more of a Mojave closer now. I feel the same way about Mr. Oizo

Brolectronica or not pretty lights is pretty good. But ya pretty lights in sahara for sure
but this leads to a fun game, speculate if the following acts are Mohave or sahara material (feel free to throw other names in)
Pretty lights: sahara
Royksopp: I could argue for either way
underworld: leaning Mohave
squarepusher: sahara
the knife: too big for Mohave so sahara. Maybe outdoor
basement jaxx: sahara
groove armada: sahara
boards of Canada: Mohave or outdoor
aphex twin: sadly Mohave
digitalism: sahara
I'll play!
Pretty lights: Outdoor
Royksopp: Sahara
underworld: Mohave
squarepusher: Mohave
the knife: Sahara
basement jaxx: Main Stage
groove armada: sahara
boards of Canada: Mohave or outdoor
aphex twin: Sahara closer

Simian, squarepusher, fatboy, digitalism, carl cox, shlohmo, oizo!!!!!, cassius, james blake (mojave, but still electronic), rustie
and last (but certainly not least) a mehdi hologram during busy p's set -_-
SMD, Digitalism, Soulwax, and Orbital better be there.
You think The Knife is too big for Mojave but Underworld isn't? Interesting. And when did The Knife became too big to play Mojave? Honestly, I don't think the size of the crowd would live up to the expectations of some forum members if they were to play.
Pretty Lights: Sahara
Royksopp: Mojave
Underworld: Outdoor
The Knife: Mojave
Basement Jaxx: Outdoor
Groove Armada: Sahara
Boards of Canada: Mojave
Aphex Twin: Mojave
Digitalism: Sahara
And on a side note, someone from their management tweeted "Not yet. Stay tuned" in response to a question regarding The Knife's new album which, in my opinion, means it'll probably be released later this year.

basement jaxx mainstage? Do tell your reasoning. I would like aphex twin headlining the sahara but after discussing how plastikman faced an empty crowd, it makes me hesitant to ever believe aphex twin will ever set foot in the sahara (especially after 2012's lineup). Albeit, the 2008 crowd was pretty packed ... http://www.flickr.com/photos/hailmar...7165/lightbox/ (couldn't insert image due to copyright).
Thanks for sharing that tweet, hopefully it means a subsequent tour and coachella 2013 appearance... You may be right about over estimating the knifes popularity. But to me, the knife has a bigger draw than anderssons moniker Fever Ray, who we all know headlined the Mojave. So my reasoning was that they'd be given a bigger stage, outdoor would probably make more sense than sahara though due to musical style.
Yes. A tweet about The Knife's potential new album definitely indicates that they will be playing

Also, no one "headlines" the Mojave.
I feel like pennies are probably what, embarrassingly (for you, I guess, if you're embarrassed by this sort of thing) most of you eat on a regular basis. Pennies.
That's a joke about how most of you are so fucking dumb that your stupidity stems from the fact that you likely eat pennies.

I was thinking they could get a slot similar to Justice this year or perhaps LCD in 2010. There seems to usually be a dance-y main stage live act at some point during the weekend, and I think their live set would draw a big crowd. I could be overestimating their popularity in the US though.
