I don't camp because it would be a challenge to camp due to my diabetes and wheelchair.
Nothing feels better than walking into an ice cold hotel room and dropping into a bed with fluffy sheets. Same thing with staying at a place that is close to the venue. You can save a 100 bucks by staying in Palms Springs, but when your driving with traffic on hwy 101 back to the hotel, then 30-40 minutes has passed and your the only one on the road, and you realize that it's not the best way to spend your time.
I may land up camping one day for shit and giggles, but for my experience, which means trying to catch 11-13 full sets each day, staying in a hotel works for my fat body.
Whiskey Sour
2 oz blended whiskey
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 tsp powdered sugar
1 cherry
1/2 slice lemon
Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
LIFE'S A GAMBLE!
I took a dump twice in the portopotties. Oh wait...
loved weekend two. wouldnt mind going to both but getting two weekends off is difficult
[In my opinion? I'm glad more people can experience Coachella, but this Weekend One/Weekend Two thing is complete bullshit. I felt cheated and that I maybe got 3/4ths of the Coachella experience since I only went one weekend, and it would take going both to get the full experience. It splits the magnificence, extravagance and immensity of Coachella into two. And I'm sure that if I went Weekend 2 instead I would've felt the same way.]
So when you go to the movies you probably feel cheated as well since there is always more than one showtime and more than one theater, right?) Same goes for the touring bands if they do more than one concert per city/state/country??
The analogies were never intended to be exact, but that isn't the issue here. OP complained about the movie analogy by stating that that didn't work because the movies were exactly the same. I mention other concerts and live theater - where night to night things most certainly do not run the same every night - and now you're going on about interactive. I could counter with Sleep No More or a fucking county fair and somebody'd complain that those aren't on polo fields or something else.
Also I see this mindset as an interesting contrast with folks still crying for single day tickets, which while also a little annoying at least they are not complaining about how horrible it is that Coachella offers more days than they are able to go for, almost calling for abolishing of Coachella days they can't attend this particular year.
I can't agree with the "completely" in there. I still contend that both weekends this year were at their essence, Coachella, and that they were each, in fact, Coachella itself, self-contained.
I don't think I'm hosting a 2016 collaborative playlist.
If it lets them sell enough tickets to keep upgrading the fields and signing major acts, and lets more people be at Coachella without it being the overcrowded clusterfuck it was in 2010 then I'm all for it. I went Weekend 1 and didn't feel like I missed anything by not going Weekend 2. Except a slightly wistful thought of "awww, some people are at Coachella 2 right now" but that just gave me a warm feeling.

The big problem with going back to one weekend is the popularity of the festival. I mean, would anyone really be surprised if both weekends sold out in presale now (Unless they cap presale this year)? I wouldn't. It just sells out quicker each and every year now.
If they went back to one weekend I can't imagine how much of an online clusterfuck presale would be.
I agree that Weekend one felt like a trial run. Last year was so smooth and wonderful that I was pretty thrown off by how screwy things were the first few days; especially in the campgrounds. The portas seem to not get cleaned out or stocked as often. The super market shuttle was more difficult to find and it felt like a farther walk than last year. Changing the street names to numbers was lame. I had lots of fun this year and still love coachella (though I could do without the super cold nights during weekend one) but was definitely bothered by this year's planning.
I'll still plan to go weekend 1 when the grass is still alive if they continue to split the weekends next year.
Why don't you people just stop complaining and stop comparing the weekends? WHO CARES?! Just be happy you went! I had a great time in weekend 2, saw the bands I wanted, met amazing new people, only complain was the heat but it really wasn't too bad. If you guys worry about the grass then there's something wrong with you. If you had a terrible time then complain, if not then just shut up.
They ARE NOT going back to 1 weekend and giving up $75 million .....no fucking way...they just bought every piece of property around the polo fields.
Here IS what is going to happen. Coachella will always be 2 weekends. Stagecoach within 2 years will be stretched to 2 weekends. Indio city council WILL NOT approve any more than the 2/2 system.
Goldenvoice will buy the polo fields next year. They will begin turning the grounds into year round events.....none as big as Coachella as the city does not want them nor will approve of them.
They have too much money and power to stop this train.
they do not make $75 million by adding an extra weekend.
I'm not really sure how weekend 1 of 2 could be seen as a trial run any more than previous single weekend Coachellas were trial runs for the Big 4/Stagecoach festivals (in terms of logistics).
I never questioned which weekend I'd go to, and, given the choice, I'd go to weekend 1 every time because I don't like waiting around. That said, it was really weird to think during weekend 2 that people were doing what I'd already done, but I'm over it. It seems that GV tried really hard to make both weekends the same and the firsties lost out on some art and things due to the weather but I don't feel like it diminished my Coachella experience. I had a great time and that's that. I don't feel like weekend 1 was the "better" weekend but it was good for me and that's all I could have hoped for in the end.
Now, when does layaway for 2013 weekend 1 start?![]()

What frustrates me most about Coachella is conflicts, and going week 2 both allows you to see the webcast as well as hear vicariously which were the best sets. The principal trade-off seems to be hotter weather. Unless they webcast both weekends, support the full show streams on YouTube, or pirates step up their game and capture more of the live streams, Week 2 seems like it has more advantages than Week1.
if i went weekend 2 i would've missed out on meeting some really great people from on here, so since most boardies will be doing weekend 1 every year, i will too.
April 24 - Queens of the Stone Age
April 26-28 - Levitation
What they should really do is broadcast weekend 2 and not 1 since that way you don't spoil it for anyone going to weekend 2 and you might work out some kinks with equipment, band setup, etc.
Oh and for presale, they should allow people who've already bough tickets on presale to have first dibs on them, maybe in a similar order as they purchased before. Then allow everyone else to buy.

Or they can just do whatever the fuck they want because they're not obligated to fulfill anybody's dumb personal wishes and they'll sell out of all of their tickets regardless.

It's a 2 day fest! Sat/Sun
I'm gonna go see Tool because it's their only show in the US this summer. And I only saw them once here in Vegas in the Winter Tour.
I'd fly out Friday, hang out, then catch a late flight Sunday, or early flight monday. Doable...
Anyway it's in Minnesota, cheap flight. But I feel ya, I'm saving my time off for Lolla and a trip to PR.
