So we can scratch the Beastie Boys

Wikipedia still has then as '79-present'
Maynard hasn't worked in April for quite a few years now and has to be onsite at his vineyard every day during that period. Though rehearsing in Arizona and doing a quick fly out could be an extreme possibility.
I'd say Eminem is poised to play Coachella in the very near future after the very positive reviews of his guest spot. He wouldn't have been able to headline without it.
Not sure how much of the AEG/GV vs. Live Nation(u2 has exclusive tour deal) vs. Michael Cohl thing fits into the picture.
No doubt headlining would seem strange to me. Do they really have that much of a draw? Gwynn Stefani had a more lucrative solo career than with no doubt, which I guess can be seen Asa good thing.
Did anyone here see Gorillaz coming in 2010?
Sorry, to clarify, Bumblebee with several high profile guests. And a balloon drop like Arcade Fire, but not balloons, one anvil.
No Doubt are massive in the so cal region. Selling out some 15 amphitheaters in one calandar year. More tickets than any other headliner anyone could name.
No Doubt is terrible. I'd be pissed if GV booked them as a headliner. I would never see them anyway, but just to see their name at the top of the bill on one of the days would disturb me.

So part of me really does think that Incubus will headline next year as the weak Kroq headliner. I know they are opening for Linkin Park in the upcoming Honda Civic tour but that's more of having two headlining acts on the same tour and both can't play at the same time sort of deal. Plus they do have an extensive back catalog and from Southern California. Obviously the fiver would close the stage after them. I just wouldn't be shocked to see their name on the line up. If not them then No Doubt for the Kroq headliner.
Pearl Jam seems to be the obvious headliner choice next year and for good reason. However I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't simply because I believe Eddie when he said they would never play the Polo Fields again. However money does talk and he swallows his pride and they play.
For the third one I am thinking they are going back to a classic headliner so that leaves me to think either Bruce or Neil. However I'm going to think they are combining the Classic with the left field pick and say Tom Petty.
Not who I want there but who I think will be. Now go ahead and rip all you want.
What's "left field" about Tom Petty?
Pearl Jam also once said they would never ever play festivals again....so I don't buy for a second Eddie wouldn't play because he doesn't wanna play on the polo fields....just seems to me that GV has never approached/asked them all these years as other festivals have (in fact, there was just some article that stated Paul T. hasn't contacted PJ about headlining because he worries fans would just park it at the main stage all day for that...big wtf? on that).
I never said Incubus was a good choice of a headliner or if they deserve to be or not. I don't really listen to them so I don't really know their headlining status or not. Maybe they sub then or co-headline like Kanye/The Strokes. I just have a gut feeling they will be there.
I guess Incubus being there would be about on the level of Jack Johnson's bewildering booking
Bands that open for Linkin Park do not headline Coachella. This is 2012.
