Thread: Despacio: the new generation

    Default Despacio: the new generation

One cannot attend Coachella and not notice the "new" generation of festival attendees, those who do not leave the Sahara tent on an endless party with their "bros." It is an experience, though one that some would say that is not a "true" Coachella experience.

However, not as frequently mentioned is the other new generation of festival attendees, those whose highlight of an outdoor festival in the sun is being inside dark tents with no sunlight infiltration or outside stimuli. These tents, known as the Yuma and Despacio, truly represent a new and cutting edge breed of festival attendee, an attendee who can almost separate themselves from the festival itself.

    It is transcendent.

i think it's something to do with this new "house" music that's been getting popular lately. as we know, the "house" in "house music" comes from the fact that it's most ardent supporters and fans enjoy listening to the music in their houses, preferably on a couch, or nodding along with approval at their computers. these "house heads" enjoy the isolating and cloister-like environment of a dark tent or nightclub-esque venue setting.

I almost literally did Despacio all weekend long? I danced four hours straight each night, no joke. I intended to stop in and then go do other things, but it got under my skin in a big way. Transcendent doesn't even begin to describe what I experienced. That crowd was the goddamn best.

Come dance with me again this weekend, errybody. I'll be the girl cutting it up hard under the disco ball.

Its nightclub music and Coachella do a good job ofbproviding 2 NIGHT clubs in the middle of the day. Its not for everyone, but its awesome to be able to see a couple of DJs play when theres no proper shows to catch.

I only checked out Despacio for 25 minutes Sunday night but intend on getting in there a lot this coming weekend. Really great vibes.

I just popped in on Fri and Sun and thought it was probably the best crowd and vibe at the fest. Should've stuck around longer there but choices choices choices....

Loved my time in there on Saturday and Sunday. Obviously wont happen, but I would love if it became a permanent thing at Coachella.
