I've never seen Polyphonic Spree, but I have seen the Thermals. They are fun, but no more fun than any other punk rock show. And when you told me to reconsider, chunk, what did you mean? Like, consider going to ATP from Seattle instead of driving a few hours to the Gorge? Or reconsider Sasquatch as a good festival because a band from Portland that plays here every other weekend is going somewhere else instead?
i liked saturday. i thought interpol was originally on saturday. im not a huge fan, but bjork, interpol, arcade fire, hold steady and thermals was enough to make me drive up. now, saturday with the hold steady and an af/bjork repeat is not enough. subtracting thermals and adding polyphonic spree does nothing. just makes me want to go less.
Not going to a festival because there is a band playing that you don't like is stupid. Not liking Polyphonic Spree has nothing to do with it. I doubt you were actually going to drive up here and canceled because of that. If you did, you're a moron.
It is fairly meh, outside of Beastie Boys and a few others it's just Coachlla jr. I mean I know the bottom portion of the line-up is fairly different, but none of those bands are all that rare to see play.
Coachella Jr, meaning a lot of bands that are touring at the time will be there. And Full on Idle will agree with me that the Beastie Boys are in fact, embarrassingly good. I probably wouldn't drive up from L.A. to see Sasquatch, but only an idiot would do that. Have fun in the smog while I'm puking my guts out to Brass Monkey. In a good way.
