DO IT!
Bikes are for wimps im walking from san diego
verveman77:
I'm walking on my hands from El Centro.
200 miles through the desert on a fixie. Sweet idea bro, plenty of room for all your supplies on that bike I bet.
Please do it!
so there's about 6 of us going.. 2 cars, - i'm coming with a mate from london, i'm taking my bike as i want to ride around in san diego, la, san fran.. etc - and we're going coachella, there will be a lift back from the festival.
i dont know why i want to do it.. something about sweating it out in the desert for 2 days (approx 8hrs in the saddle) to get there and then having a weekend of debauchery appeals to me.
supplies wise, 6 tubes, tool kit, couple of changes of clothes in backpack - i've ridden longer distances fixed and like i said, cars will have all other stuff, camping and what not.. so i'm not gonna get there and be on my own.
Please post pics of your calves.... I will let you know if you can make it.
160 odd miles. the freeway is a concern but i'm hoping there will be alternative routes that mitigate that risk.
That sounds insane. I'm proud of you.

8/7/16 - Sufjan Stevens @ Hollywood Bowl // 8/8/16 - Radiohead @ Shrine // 8/8/16 - Boris @ Regent
9/14/16 - Wilco @ Theatre at Ace Hotel // 9/18/16 - Kraftwerk @ Hollywood Bowl
Do you already know where you would stop to camp (if you're doing this over 2 days?)
4/15: Tama Sumo @ Seattle
4/25: Rolling Coastal Blackout Fever, Sloucher @ The Crocodile
4/27-30: Stagecoach
5/16: Mount Kimbie @ Neumo's
5/25-27: Sasquatch
nope.. not got a scooby.
i'm heading out in a few days and will do some planning before - dont wanna camp on route, shitty motels would suffice.
Oh, that's good. My only advice is to stay extra hydrated; have you ridden distances long in that climate?

I'll be looking for those calves at the campgrounds and definitely hand you a beer
It could be done, but you should have a bailout plan just in case.
160 is not that long, but depending on the route you do realize there are some decent inclines, right? You may have to take a bizarre route as well. But if you have a SAG car, you don't have much to worry about. I'd bring more than 6 tubes though. All kinds of shit on the roads.
EDIT: Looking at Bikely they are routing you through Idyllwild, which would be really challenging. About a 7,800' total elevation. Are you certain you can take a more direct route and avoid the mountains? I'm not sure if you can.

northside groove...southside groove....eastside groove...westside groove
I want to break a record by getting road dome from my house to Indio.
I've been training my girl. Just gonna need one tube and a seat/wheel adjustment
